Greetings everyone!
It sure is wonderful to see our Paradise Cafe's population growing by leaps and bounds. And not just in signed-up members but in the many posts on several topics.
So by now you've probably noticed an absence of moderators and the new designation "facilitators", or as one wag among us has said: "fer silly tators". Why the shift?
Many of us have been burned in the past by uncertain moderating, particularly when it has not been known who was doing what, or when one or two moderators have been overburdened with responsibility for a large db. We've been asking ourselves how we can avoid the problems of the past....at least, to some extent.
Our team of facilitators are very much like attendants at a large gathering. Their purpose is to serve the attendees, to make them comfortable, to see that their needs are met, etc. They may wear a ribbon or nametag to alert those attending as to who they can turn to for assistance. But their primary focus is to
keep members,
not delete them! An attendent at a gathering would only assist an attendee out the door if they were unruly. In the words of one of our team:
I think the only disiplinary action that should be taken is if someone is rude, crude, immoral talk etc., things that are not Christian behavior. Warnings would be given first, then we must agree on whether action should be taken if the behavior persists.
I think all of us here hate "disfellowshipping" and "shunning" as it currently practiced by the WT. We feel that DBs that follow this practice of hair-trigger deletions and the overuse of the word "apostate", create in their members, not a feeling of warmth and security, but one of confrontation and uncertainty.
Being that most of us on this DB are not newbies (REALLY!) to internet discussions, we are aware of net-etiquette and can self-moderate. But if we see that a problem is arising and gentle steering is not working, we will privately PM folks to see if things can be resolved privately.
Please do not view these communications as warnings -- they are not! If anyone needs to be warned -- and we hope that it would be rare -- then it would be clearly stated that it is a warning. Facilitators would confer together before issuing these, and there would be three such warnings before a member was possibly removed from this DB.
We all want there to be as much freedom as possible here. We don't want to be hemmed in by a lot of do's and don'ts. Probably one of us will post a short topic on net etiquette for those who are new to internet discussions. But if we continue to use love and respect in our conversations our problems will be few.
Love to all our wonderful brethren here (I just learned that this term means 'brothers and sisters'), Rez :rose:
Selam sis,
I surrender to your thoughts with AMEN!
Much brotherly love,
AR

Just a quick thought ... :giverose:
This isn't a 'guideLINE' ... but rather a tip for 'a guide' in helping ya'll have a much more comfortable and easier time navigating ... :friends:
In case no one has noticed ...
If you want a QUICK way to get back to the index page where the listings are there is a 'secret':D:quiet: shortcut ...
All you have to do ... is go to the top of the page and "click the pic" at the top ... you will automatically be taken to the first page!! This happens on EVERY page ... so know one need ever be lost or have to do too many back buttons clicks ...:fear::funnyface:
I hope this message has been to your 'satisfaction' ... this has been a recording ...:giverose::friends::rose:

Is there an "easy to follow instructions" to locate posts by a certain member, other than to keep seeking and keep searching ? :read:

Hi llee ...
Just checked in before I went to bed and saw your question ...
Hopefully this will be understandable and easy ...
go to the top of the page and you will see the 'member list' link ...
Click and and you should see the members according to letter
Click on the letter of the member whose posts you want to see and it will take you to their profile ...
There you will see a link called ... (I think) view all posts ...
If you click that you should see everything they wrote ...
Hope I got it right ...
Enjoy reading!:read:
Your sis BR:giverose: goodnight
Dear Rez and Team,
I think we'll ALL appreciate and benefit from the way you've approached your role on this D/B.
A respectful, open-minded and balanced agenda, framed within Biblical guidelines is all that most of us require.
We wish you well :rose:

Dear Sis Lee,
Roses is an awesome picture-finder! I remember the plans for BBQ and circle dance at the original Paradise Cafe. It was Roses who found an avatar for me and you who supplied my signature "How Jehovah loves his wretched sheep"
When we get there, we'll REALLY be home. Sometimes I feel 'homesick'...:crybaby:
Love, Rez :giverose:
