"Simon Peter answered [Jesus]: 'Lord, WHOM shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life; and we have believed and come to know that you are the Holy One of God.' "--John 6:68, 69, NWT.
How often have we heard and spoken these words? And, how often have you heard someone make the substitution which is so common and prevalent? ... "Where?" instead of "WHOM?" Peter, and the other initial Christian disciples, had the unspeakable privilege of personal association with Jesus Christ, the Messiah, our Lord and Master. There was, -- and, is, -- no other "WHOM" to be sought out.
And, "Where???" wasn't even a consideration. The "Where" was wherever Jesus might be!
Is it any different for us today? No, it is not.
"Jesus said to [the Samaritan woman]: "Believe me, woman, The hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you people worship the Father. ... Nevertheless, the hour is coming and it is now, when THE TRUE WORSHIPERS WILL WORSHIP THE FATHER WITH SPIRIT AND TRUTH, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship Him. God is a Spirit, and THOSE WORSHIPING HIM MUST WORSHIP WITH SPIRIT AND TRUTH."--John 4:21-24, ibid.
So, "Where" exactly was all of this to take place? The Scriptures don't identify a "Place," a "Building," a "Corporation," or a "Publishing House," do they? No, they don't. Maybe, a "Religious Institution"? ???
"Neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem."
The next time you hear someone attempting to quote Peter's succinct, right-on-target, rhetorical question, which he put to Jesus, namely, "Lord, WHOM shall we go away to?" ... but they inadvertently say, "WHERE shall we go away to?" ... why not render them a loving service? Why not, kindly, point out what Peter's question REALLY was?
"Jesus said to [Thomas]: 'I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me."--John 14:6, ibid. Â
Have you discovered Jesus Christ and his sayings of everlasting life? Then, you have found the only necessary, "WHOM." Wherever you happen to be, ... that's the "Where."
