I was reading Matthew today and I can across something that caught my attention. I had always assumed it was the Romans who had taken Jesus down from the cross, wrapped him up and put him in the tomb. I do not know why I assumed that, but today I realized that Joseph of Arimaetha was the one who asked Pilate for the body and was granted it. (Matthew 15 : 42 - 47) I found this strange and a bit disturbing because of the period in which Jesus died. Passover. I find this troubling because at that time, Israelites were not allowed nor wanted to touch a dead body because they would be seen as unclean and even cursed for quite a time afterwards. It simply wasn't done. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? :read:

The Jews were religious, but not to the extent of the absurd. Jesus Himself said that if one of their animals fell inot a ditch and could't get out they broke the Sabboth to save the animal. The same might be true of an execution. They might have broken those laws in defernce to the unusaual situation. The Jews as fastidious as they were concerning the Law used common sense...........JW's should take a lesson when it comes to their own blood law.
