''At Iconium, Paul and Barnabus went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number
of Jews and Gentiles believed.'' (Acts 14:1)
''But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles
and poisoned their minds against the brothers.'' (2)
''So Paul and Barnabus spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace be enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders.'' (3) :rose:
''The people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles.'' (4) :rose:
''There was a plot afoot among the Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, to mistreat them and stone them.'' (5)
''But they found out about it and fled to the Lycanonian cities of
Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country, whre they continued to preach the good news.'' (6) :rose:
I got enthused over this reading as I was reading it. There are so many details in such a short read. My thoughts on this are for one thing don't ever underestimate the power of God's Holy Spirit
:rose:
Paul and Barnabus spoke plainly and with such warmth and power they made believers out of non-believers. They also persevered in doing good and when things got dicey left to preach in anothr area and carry on and didn't give in to any human emotions to retallliate or to stay and fight...they set a beautiful example.....
all glory goes to God
''They did what your power and will had decided beforehand
should happen. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.'' Acts 4:28,29
:rose:
''Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which
can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.'' Acts 20:32
''God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.'' Hebrews 2:4
:rose:
I found this to be a faith building reading today...we have all we need with Jesus and God on our side if we but believe :rose:
have a wonderful day today friends...love you all :grouphug:
