Hi Derek, I'm not sure I understand what you are asking here.

Hi Rez,
I am interested in how you define a Christian forum because you obviously feel this is a possibility?

I personally have severe reservations that this can be a possibility.
Individuals on this forum may or may not be loyal to Jesus Christ and it is certainly not determined by man or woman, but by God.

What kind of possibility are you speaking about? Is it those who might come here with less than Christian intentions?

I'll give you an example anyway, to save some time.

A man comes to the board and portrays himself as a fine Christian. But, behind the scenes he PMs some of the female members of the board with indecent suggestions or obscene jokes. It comes to the attention of admin. and the person is banned.

Do you have a problem with that?

rez:huh:

Hi Rez,

People are complex Rez, they have probably a suite of reasons for being here.

I agree, Derek. Sometimes it takes a long time before a bad motive surfaces. Sometimes the person takes great care not to expose themselves.

Regarding your point:
I didn't even know such a thing had occurred, if it has, I would class that sort of behavior with the porn spammer!
Has it occurred btw, or is this hypothetical?

I think you have picked a black and white case. And, I thought my question simple! :)

Yeah, it has occurred more than once.

Quote:
Some here have different standards of morality to the accepted Christian standards, even believing that permanent relationships outside the firmest that the law requires for man and woman, are ok!

They may even be moderators/or have been...who sets the standards of morality where such laxity (as I see it) exists? I know what God requires of me, I have had one woman in marriage for nearly fifty years, but I leave it the conscience of the other person on forums, God is their Judge.

eggzactly!

Quote:
Since we cannot be lawgivers and we are not members of a denomination or sect, how can we be a Christian congregation?
I would not stay in church that had a pastor who was not keeping God's requirements on morality. But, however, I did stay on a forum once although I disassociated myself from its policy on morality.

Well, there's the thing, Derek, we are not a congregation. We've made that plain from the start. We're a Christian discussion forum. There are many things that could and would be done in a congregational setting that are just not possible on the internet.

Quote:
We, all individuals here, have different needs that we hope are met, we all give and take from our association as best we can. Let none of us have grandiose ideas and think we are special as we once did in the WTS. :)

regards
Derek

Oh, darlin', did you think you were special when you were in the WT? I don't think you meant that, did you.:dontknow:

The organization itself promotes specialness and separation from "so-called" Christendom, always vaguely annoying, wasn't it. Then there was the internal division into elite and rank 'n file.

We know better than that. All Christians are equally valuable and loved by God. But, we're just an internet forum. We do the best we can with the limitations imposed on us.

Take care, bro!
Rez

HI Rez,
Thank you for your reply.
But at the end, you comment and misquoted me. :)

If anyone was brought up a JW, got baptised and didn't feel they were part of special group...its news to me! darling! :)

I guess you ladies opened up this subject as a result of my aside on the previous thread which you answered. I have replied to your expanded points.
Thanks
Derek
you mean we Weren't special? just kidding.. :D

actually, I thought the group was special and that the religion was oh so special and that I was very fortunate they allowed little ole me--who was so undeserving --to join. I spent years trying to be worthy. What I didn't reallize was the arrogance that goes with going to the doors thinking you have the answers for anyone you might meet--and how we have the right to knock on any door at any time and pursuade them to come over to our side because they and their relligion were all wrong. (if they would just read a few watchtowers) --and that's just the way it was...
But--hearts were mostly in the right place if one was a true believer as I was for the longest of time...but special? afraid not...pretty ordinary...
Hi Carol,
I have a little wife here who thinks I'm a big knight in shining armour! :)

Your dead right...we have still 'an inadequacy' but now we know we have God's grace in Christ to supply us with strength.
As it says at the bottom of my posts:
We go in faith, our own great weakness feeling,
And needing more each day Thy grace to know:
Yet from our hearts a song of triumph pealing,
“We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go.”

I think anyone who is thinking of becoming a JW's or deferring leaving the WTS..and they have children.... should realize the WTS can seriously screw children up and it can take a lifetime to heal the harm.

Governments should make the WTS put an health warning on all their publications! :)
blessings to you
Derek

you hit my deepest saddest regret derek--my 3 kids who all have born scars from a witness upbringing. They have forgiven me but I have a hard time forgiving myself  and I see what it has done to my 2 sons especially--not prepared them for adult life --sadder than sad really.... :( we could do a whole chapter--or book-- on this one
Greetings fellow slaves!!

You weren't misquoted Derek ... I was commenting in my own way on your generalization. And, perhaps I sensed that you were mincing your words.

The trouble with trying to send a message to someone without coming right out and saying it, is that it can set you up to be super-sensitive to any responses in return. What goes 'round, comes 'round, as the folk proverb goes.

So, if you have something to say, then say it. You can always PM me if you wish.

Here's the thing: I wasn't brought up as a JW. I was married with two children when I was baptized in 1967. As I recall, a lot of us just felt like good-for-nothing slaves who were only doing what they ought to....just happy to be useful to our Father.

(my gosh, I better not call you darling again)

You ladies? Actually, I had no idea that BR was going to start this thread. Why do you assume otherwise? And why do you think it is all about you?

I think this is a good topic for discussion as long as there are folks who want to continue it. As for me, I've made my contribution and unless I can give a useful answer I'd rather do something else.

go in peace, bro, :peace:

Good to see your new username working for you, sunshine!:cheer:
Let us know if you want any further modifications.....hehehe

:siskiss:

Hi Rez,
I agree, there is no point in continuing the topic. I merely answered because I was quoted. It is called good manners in the UK.

I wouldn't presume to think I come anyway but on the bottom table in the 'pecking order'. I saw what happened to poor little, Brian on the chemtrail topic when he played the loyalty card! :)

Just to end with the Alice in Wonderland theme......And the Queen of Hearts said, "Off with his head!" :) :) :)
...silly thing, you.....:D
Don`t bring me into it! As far as i`m concerned any offense at that time, on that thread, is forgiven and gone.
Thanks Brian.....we can always use plenty of forgiveness. :heartbeat:

(BTW I've never thought of you as "poor little Brian")

Hope to see you at the think tank tonight. How's that computer doing BTW?

love,
Rez
It should be the trinity tonight. Computer not so good.

We'll be looking forward to the three of you. Jim says he'd like to discuss 2Corinthians 5:1,2. I'd love to know from what angle. I'm trying to think outside the box.

see you there in an hour,:hibye:

Just so no one gets the wrong impression, the "you ladies" applied to mods doesn't include me. While I know many ladies who would let a man have the last word just so he will think it was important enough for an argument to be won, I also know that the man who doesn't get his ego so regularly stroked will eventually grow up to be a man. :beatoverhead:
