When The Organization IS The Mediator- Things Get Screwed Up.

The following is based on the Book WHEN GOD BECOMES A DRUG BY Leo Booth Page# 31

"Power groups can manipulate scriptures to create doctrines and dogma designed to keep people in submission, fearful of error. They make up the rules and say the rules are God's,so that questioning the teachers or teachings equals questioning God.

"Promising heavenly(Or in our case, earthly paradise) reward as compensation for deprivation in this life, conditions people to escape into magical thinking and denial of reality. Teaching that acceptance of God Jehovah or Christ(or the elder) (The WT society's "suggestions"=rules) is the way to absolve sins leads to rationalization and the inability to take responsibility for one's own actions. Meaning: We are bad,and God will magically fix us IF we do what someone or some religious organization tells us is God's wish".

Jesus Christ, the Son and our mediator is suppose to be THEE ONLY mediator between Jehovah God and humankind- Timothy 2:5. However,in dysfunctional and controlling cult-like religious organizations, the religious organization and it's leaders BECOME the mediator and thus replacing Jesus Christ. Thus, like the religious leaders of Christ's day, they burden the people with their religious sounding and NON-Biblically backed rules, being the direct opposite of Christ's definition of his yoke or load which he describes as being,"LIGHT and NON-burdensome"-Matthew 11:29,30.

(PG#39) "Because most religious addicts believe themselves inherently worthless and powerless, they look outside themselves for some religious authority(WT Society) who functions as a go-between,an intermediary who tells them what God is like and what God wants them to do. Thus religious addicts never experience God first hand, never truly get to know God. If what they are told about God is dysfunctional, then their relationship with God becomes dysfunctional.

Religious addicts feel judged by God-so they learn to judge. They feel that God sees them as dirty and sinful-so they make others feel dirty and sinful. In religious addiction, denial runs rampant. After all,the whole purpose of an addiction is to escape reality. Religious addiction springs from a reservoir of low self-esteem, a sense of inadequacy, shame, guilt, and the desire to escape, fix or numb these feelings".

My experience with the Watchtowers teachings taught me, that I needed to deprive myself of "good" in this life, in order to placate Jehovah God through deeds and works. It was an escape for me, to focus on the Paradise Earth...not just because it is beautiful and wonderful - but because it voided my having to be responsible in this life. It taught me that I wasnt good enough to make it through the great tribulation and Armageddon. I had to focus constantly on my sin, as I had no real concept or experience with the true meaning of forgiveness. It taught me, that in order to make Jehovah happy, I had to tow the line with the Organisation and believe everything that was handed down to me, without question.

It also caused me to see life as meaningless - that this world was due for destruction, so what was the point in engaging with it? It taught me, that in the coming Paradise, God would make everything better - and that I neednt improve myself or my lot in life, but rather, that I should just make do with what I have, and be happy with that.

Of course, many of these things were really my perception of what was going on -- and thank goodness my perceptions have changed! There is true freedom in this life - and yes, there sure are many wonderful future blessings in store for mankind in the times to come -- but the greatest of all blessings, is Jesus Christ - who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.....in other words....Right HERE, Right NOW! :friends:

You know, Beau - I think many have misinterpreted your tagline - "LIVE THE KINGDOM NOW!" - thinking, perhaps, that you're saying today is all we have and you held no future hope of the Kingdom. I didn't think that, I get it! You encapsulated the whole story in your few words here and all I can say is AMEN! It really is all about Jesus, and high-control groups who wrest away his authority over God's flock are sorely, sadly, missing the point of 'freedom in Christ'.

Thank you for that post, Beau - it made my day!

:heartbeat: Love you li'l bro. :friends:

I am so glad I left it all behind to be at rest. No one can organize you but God Himself.
