Ieremias Wrote:

Only as those who are willing to give up their Christian freedom, for manmade bondage
RR144,
If the wolves have power and authority over the flock then they really do have power and authority over the flock.
It is not the sheep who choose who has this power and authority.
Neither is it the wolves who have the authority by their own choice.
The Apostles were chosen by Jesus Christ after he prayed to his father all night.
The disciples did not choose the Apostles.
Judas Iscariot was given the power and authority.
His authority was not manmade.
He did turn out to be a son of destruction.
End time scriptures do say that a "son of destruction" would be in evidence immediately before Jesus Christ returns.
Asking the question: "Does this mean that "oppressive wolves" would actually have the authority and power over the flock ?"
Is extremely valid and profound.
If a sheep chooses not to follow them does not mean the wolves no longer have the power and authority.
Even though the sheep's decision is a righteous one.
When the sheep make that decision they really do become in a scattered condition.
Which brings dishonor to those in power and authority, the shepherds.
The sheep cannot remove the power and authority from them even if they wanted to.
Only the one who gave them the power and authority can do that.
I believe this will happen when Jesus Christ returns:
and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction
2nd Thessalonians 2
Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.
Until that happens, the sheep are scattered in the wilderness.

Total Dismay,
Tried to answer your post in the above also.
Yes, a sheep could be oppressive to another sheep, you probably already know the scripture.

anja,
If there are evidences about sin, righteousness and judgment that I receive from the holy spirit then I feel compelled to share them.
John 16
And when that one arrives he will give the world convincing evidence concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment: 9 in the first place, concerning sin, because they are not exercising faith in me; 10 then concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father and YOU will behold me no longer; 11 then concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
The reason I share them is so that Jesus Christ is the one who receives the glory.
John 16:13
However, when that one arrives, the spirit of the truth, he will guide YOU into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own impulse, but what things he hears he will speak, and he will declare to YOU the things coming. 14 That one will glorify me, because he will receive from what is mine and will declare it to YOU.
Therefore, if you choose to disagree with what I have posted it does not hurt my feelings.
It does not come from me so I do not take your disagreement personally however, just as you feel justified in saying that you receive things from the holy spirit, so do I.
Shame on me if I do not share the things I receive from the holy spirit.
The one who I am accountable to and will ultimately be judged by is Jesus Christ.
Not you!

I disagree able. Case in point, in 1917 if the ecclesias were all autonmous, how was it that Judge Rutheerford was able to gain power and authority? It was because the flock allowed him to exhert power and authority over them.
Some left as individuals and as groups, but a good portion stayed and allowed the abuse, Lording it over the flock.

anja,
It is Jesus Christ who will reveal and do away with the sons of destruction, the braggarts, the rulers:
Isaiah 28
“Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. No one exercising faith will get panicky. 17 And I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the leveling instrument; and the hail must sweep away the refuge of a lie, and the waters themselves will flood out the very place of concealment.
Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. = Jesus Christ.
Immediately before he returns the sons of destruction (rulers) will be revealed and done away with by the spirit of his mouth.
2nd Thessalonians 2:8
Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.
The sons of destruction will be revealed from their hiding place by truths that come from Jesus Christ (Holy Spirit).
waters themselves will flood out the very place of concealment
Truths will sweep away their lie:
And I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the leveling instrument; and the hail must sweep away the refuge of a lie
2nd Thessalonians 2:11
So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie
The lie?
Millions Now Living Will Never Die!
Same lie that Satan told:
You positively will not die.
Because of this there is a terrible judgment and desolation coming upon the Jehovah's Witnesses who have undermined Jesus Christ's covenant.
and he will declare to YOU the things coming. John 16
Do you understand?
Isaiah 28
Whom will one instruct in knowledge, and whom will one make understand what has been heard? Those who have been weaned from the milk, those moved away from the breasts?

Yes, and the Lord knows His sheep!
anja,
What I am really mad about is that the bible shows how Satan will undermine Christianity and profane their temple and yet still he has been able to perpetrate such a spectacular deception.
Do misled people know they have been misled?
No!
That is why Holy Spirit from God is required to have faith in the truths written in the bible and see the convincing evidence that reveals them.
Satan's deception is so spectacular that he has people convinced that the same kingdom he has undermined must therefore be a cult.
Even though the bible shows that these things WILL happen to HIS kingdom.
Yes, that is how spectacular and pervasive Satan's deception is!
Do you find the things I have posted difficult to bear?
John 16
“I have many things yet to say to YOU, but YOU are not able to bear them at present. 13 However, when that one arrives, the spirit of the truth, he will guide YOU into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own impulse, but what things he hears he will speak, and he will declare to YOU the things coming.
