thanks for bringing us the news, brother bangalore, sad though it is. :(

like everyone else who knows them, -- and perhaps many who don't even know them, -- i will certainly be keeping them both in my prayers. :giverose:

 :grouphug:
Words cannot express how I feel at this news. That dear brother expended himself completely for his Lord and his brothers. I only hope and pray that he realizes the legacy he's left and can rest peacefully knowing that he did what he could. If he should recover that will be very glad news indeed!

There is a faithful slave!

Rez:cry:
I found out yesterday when I got home from having attended the district convention (how ironic)

...This is sad news indeed.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ray and Cynthia.

I haven't read his book, but I have read his story and seen him on youtube videos.

I agree with Resolute.. he was a faithful slave. He truly tried to shepherd the flock as a servant of the Lord... so unlike the present day governing body who lords over the flock (and would rather beat than shepherd).
Someone has posted on wikipedia that Ray Franz has died. Does any one know how to flag or change that?
This is sad news. My prayers are for his full recovery.

I just spoke to Jim Penton as he got the call about Ray yesterday. I guess he went out to get the mail, collapsed but his wife Cynthia (who has not been well) did not realize that Ray was even outside so we don't know how long he was there for. She called 911, they rushed him to the hospital but there was no sign of brain activity and the doctors said the brain cavity was filling with blood. I believe Ray was then transferred to another hospital where he has been put on a respirator but there is virtually no hope that he's going to live.

"I spoke with Dan Dykstra this morning.

"The news is not good.

"There is no hope held out that Ray will recover. Blood has leaked into every portion of his brain. He is comatose, and can thankfully feel no pain. He is being kept alive by a ventilator. There is no response at all. Cynthia cannot bring herself, as yet, to have this removed. She is having an awful time with this.

"She has friends with her, including Dan's wife, Debbie.

"I'll let you know as I hear more."

Ray was pronounce dead at 1:37 PM Eastern Standard Time. I was doing a presentation for my job at that time, and couldn't post. I've confirmed this with Marilyn Zweifel, who spoke to Dan Dykstra and Peter Gregerson

what an incredible legacy of faithfulness for the true god and his appointed christ, jesus. :giverose:

Although I never met him, I felt I've known him from the very beginning:friends:. There are so few like him ... but then perhaps I am thinking as did Elijah who needed to be comforted by the words, "I have let seven thousand remain in Israel, all the knees that have not bent down to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him." (1 Kings 19:18)
