He will be missed during his rest.
Heb. 6:10
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people...
That lovely person will be missed. Jehovah is the God of the living, and Ray will be living to Him.
Our hearts and prayers are with you all ... :heartbeat:
Your sis with love and respect BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
- A lot of people owe much of their freedom from fear to him and his work. What a wonderful service to God! helping to free the captives.
There'll be a lot of prayers in grateful thanks for him tonight. :heartbeat:
Acts5v29
Cynthia and/or friends of Ray, may you be comforted to know that Ray was a man who expended himself for his Lord and on behalf of his brothers. He was faithful.
"Let a man so appraise us as being subordinates of Christ and stewards of sacred secrets of God. Besides, in this case, what is looked for in stewards is for a man to be found faithful." -- 1 Corinthians 4:1-2
Let him rest from his labors,
Rez:giverose:
O give us, Jah, this legacy,
Of humble heart and modesty,
That we should act in harmony,
With Christ in raiment white;
And let us not presume the light,
That comes from You, celestial bright,
And shines upon us day and night,
Assured of hope secure;
For this is how we all concur,
While drained by sin, we must endure,
With love that makes salvation sure,
And takes our guilt away;
Though sin condemns us every day,
It is for this we all should pray
That we should live each day the way
Our Master trod—and brother Ray.
Come, Lord Jesus!
RF contributed to the outworking of these words of Jesus in his contribution to the global household of faith with the spiritually deep books and articles he wrote and hundreds of discourses he gave worldwide. I remember back when I first was “studying†and how much I used to enjoy the WT study articles then, not only were they spiritually uplifting and technically stimulating but something about the writing style always intrigued me. Years later I found out that RF was one of the main WT writers and that many of the articles I was influenced by he wrote. Much of the book Aid to Bible Understanding which I personally still use was written by RF, along with a number of the stimulating to listen to Bible tapes recorded by RF while he was at the WT.
Truly, Raymond Franz was used in a great way by the Son Jesus to promote real truth in the earth, and he was a faithful slave that worked tirelessly to “provide food at the proper time†to the ever growing household of faith worldwide, especially and particularly with the many spiritually disenfranchised persons that are coming out of the WT organization.
Most people have read Crisis of Conscience - but a must read is In Search Of Christian Freedom as a technical study in the nature of deception and the way to spiritual independence and confidence in the Source of all truth YHWH – to never again be led astray by the ever changing winds of the teachings of men. In my view these works are critical reads for helping persons understand the deep issues of faith – and to assist persons in becoming ones that are spiritually sensible and astute as was RF.
I wonder if he realized the global role he played post WT? While a very humble and unassuming man I’m sure he did, and I am certain that his legacy will live on in the many persons that knew him or were influenced by him - or yet may be. As Jesus also said:
“Most truly I say to you, He that exercises faith in me, that one also will do the works that I do, and he will do works greater than these, because I am going my way to the Father.†John 14:12

*** RAY FRANZ IS DEAD, BUT HIS SPIRIT GOES MARCHING ON! ***
NEWS FLASH! Richard Rawe has announced that there will be a Tribute to Ray Franz, Saturday, June 12th, at 7 P.M. Eastern Standard Time in the United States on the telephone conferencing program called "Dialogue" which Rick Fearon assists with. Just phone 1 712-432-8710, Pin 9925#. You can just listen or participate. The only cost is whatever your long distance is. Also, the Associated Press will be carrying news of Ray Franz's passing.
At 1:17 (another source says 1:37) PM EST (USA), the life support was pulled followed by the death of Former Watchtower Governing Body member Raymond V. Franz who had fallen and sustained massive bleeding of the brain on May 30, 2010. In any case, he was already brain dead and died as a Christian not affiliated with any particular denomination but with Christianity at large. After leaving the Watchtower Society he attended house churches in the area where he and his wife lived in Georgia.
His will stipulates that his mortal remains are to be cremated and there is to be no funeral service or memorial, simply a quiet passing. It is also said that the final decision was not made by his wife but by an appointed friend in Germany as when alive he had believed his wife might not have the will to do so should such a situation ever arise.

His wife is exhausted from receiving calls etc; and the family has requested that their address be removed for concerns of safety. Last heard this request was still in effect though if you already have the address you may write anyway; but if you somehow have the phone number, please give her a rest. Although Ray asked that there be no funeral or memorial some are already planning special tributes to his life and there will be obituary articles including over the Associated Press.
For those not familiar with him, in the 1980s Ray Franz was ousted from Watchtower world headquarters and later disfellowshipped for advocating reforms such as saying all Jehovah's Witnesses should be free to partake of Memorial (Last Supper) emblems and that Watchtower needed to correct its Generation of 1914 teaching.
He wrote two books: Crisis Of Conscience and In Search Of Christian Freedom, both extremely well-received and going through numerous translations and reprints. They have many people see through the Watchtower Society and exit from it.
Please include your prayers for him, his wife Cynthia, other close friends and relatives who are now in mourning. Indeed it is a sadness that has swept through all the community worldwide as he stood firm for Christ rather than an organization of human officials. Love never fails.

thanks ever so much for that, sis lee. :giverose:
i also think this post from wolfie belongs in this thread, so -- without asking her permission  -- i am importing it here.
daily scriptural text for friday, june 4, 2010
''God is not unjust: he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.''
Hebrews 6:10
There is such grace and graciousness in our God and Father
''He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD,
and he will reward him for what he has done.''
Proverbs 19:17
This same grace is mirrored in Jesus Christ
''And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will
certainly not lose his reward.'' Matthew 10:42
''The King will reply, ''I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'' Matt. 25:40
''Cornelius stared at him in fear. ''What is it, Lord?'' he asked.
The angel answered, ''Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.'' Acts 10:4
''We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.'' 1 Thess. 1:3
These scriptures --to me--are a call to action. They are not passive Christianity but filled with activity--activity that is stirred by a great love of God and of Christ--and people. As we know
''As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.'' James 2:26 ...
It is about love--love in action.
LOVE
''And now I will show you the most excellent way.''
''If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not
love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophesy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.''
1 Cor. 13: 1-3
''And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.'' 1 Corinthians 13:13
Love in action

''In the midst of winter I finally learned that in me there was an invincible summer.'' Albert Camus
''live simply, speak kindly, love unconditionally''
