I feel for the people and also the cattle and horses that might have been stuck outside in that storm.
I remember you posting that article about the Laki volcano and how it caused intense hailstorms killing cattle throughout Europe.

If that is what baseball sized hailstones do then what about when they reach one talent in weight.

And great (excessively oppressive) hailstones, as heavy as a talent [between fifty and sixty pounds], of immense size, fell from the sky on the people; and men blasphemed God for the plague of the hail, so very great was [the torture] of that plague.
If a talent really is 50 lbs it won't help much being under a roof.
Think I understand why people would prefer to be in caves or hide in clefts and crags.
