So you're still asking me (and the entire world) to believe that Eve was a literal human who lived approximately 6,000 years ago, which flies in the face of reality, and that God has no plan for non-Christians. While I didnt agree with Prodigal son, I really dont think his post warrented deletion... but being what is its, I think perhaps a couple of his points I might address.

Here is something to consider, While you dont want to rely on men's interptation of the bible and what they wrote to decide if there was a creation of adam and eve, you are however depending on 'evidence' of men to tell you that they can prove there was not. It is a circular trap and a replacement for what you are rejecting to begin with. If you have decided not to trust what is before you, then you must go to the source. And who is that source? And here in lies a bit of a problem for you does it not? If God and Jesus are made somewhat impersonal to whom are to go too?

I am curious how this works for you? Our promise from Jesus is that we would recieve the holy spirit and it would be our teacher. In your viewpoint how does this work?

I did note what you said about the 144000. Just a small comment on that. There is a difference between becoming part of Christ, and becoming a Christ. My friend, one is elevation, the other completion. Man for thousands of years has been striving for elevation, with no accord, and actually it is this desire that keeps them seperate from 'heaven', for they attempt to create their own, just as the same spirit existed at babal. It is a dangerous blinding spirit that keeps men in darkness, and I see this same spirit permeate much new age thinking, despite the more smoothe way it is attempted to be conveyed.

For too much power is given to the man, and therefore it shuts out the power of God. Jesus says the way to enter the kingdom is to become like a child, not a more evolved man.

Hi Lynn and all,

I thought we had wandered away from your original intention for the thread but I was happy enough about it. The day will have to come when we need to grapple with the similarities and differences between what I call New Age Christianity and mainstream Christianity. It might even come in our own lifetime if huge organisations like the U.N. get their way. They have been whittling away for many years at the value of traditional Christianity and bringing alternative religious organisations closer to their heart (physically and spiritually). This is a sweeping statement but I will try to put some evidence to support it if anyone is interested. We will, or perhaps our children will need to be well-informed about the similarities and differences between the two to be able to make sensible choices and decisions. I guess this topic is too hot even for the Controversy Room. But if the discussion had continued, and especially in a collaborative way, who knows what might have come from it? Some folk used to think it was faith-strengthening to defend your faith against other lines of thought. There was an extremely nice person called BridgeBuilder on Carm who used to defend his or her New Age beliefs from rabid Christians and did it in the kindest way possible. I enjoyed those discussions.

If people want to be able to have discussions like these, Shelter has reopened and has always allowed topics considered too controversial for other forums. The thing is, a forum does have the right to decide how far it wants to go. I used not think that. There is also the onus on people not to go evangelising where it isn’t wanted. But if all that is really wanted is a chance to share what you really feel is valuable, why not do it on Shelter?

eating the fruit of the serpent...his teachings that we can know more by being taught by his so-called higher way to truth, when He knew what would happen. Mankind is still partaking from satan's fruit, and eating of it, which gives them the mark of the beast. There is only one way to the truth, and that is through Christ, and by coming out of there, and not touching the unclean thing.

this forbidden fruit has shut up God's Kingdom from coming all along, and kept mankind in darkness. Man must stop partaking from the forbidden fruit, to begin to hear and to sing the new song.
