Hi all,
There is a suggestion (on Channel C) that the WT will make blood transfusion a conscience issue this summer, as a result of new light!
If the do, it will be expediency parading as truth, but we are not ignorant of their designs.

I won't be able to hold back total anger
I couldn't find where there is any evidence that the GB might capitulate on blood. However, if pushed, I believe they would say, even now, that it has always been a conscience issue. I even suspect that today, it is rare that a JW is Df'd because of the blood issue. Notoriety of the case would be their concern. Im sure that any privileges would be revoked, but that's it!
The blood issue no longer has the viability as to the "uniqueness" of JWs, or how "rightous" they are. Today it is only a liability for them.
I believe they wish it could be swept under the rug, and they would rewrite history so that future JWs think nothing of it. Most JWs today could care less about the quack medical advice the WTS promoted in the past!
it hasn't always been a conscience issue here emagine--it has been a disfellowshipping offense and some got disfellowshipped. They may quietly change it to a conscience issue :dontknow: but it has been a big big issue for many people....I also remember those talks where they assured us that blood Does NOt save lives--this would be quite a reversal if they go this far... :heartbeat:

You're too kind. I had a different word in mind...
[Admin. thanks you for keeping it in mind. Substitute words are sometimes hard to find..:D]
Well, at least they're trying to moving in the right direction on this issue. Now, I wish they would pay attention to all the rest... like, admitting that they are not the F&DS. Acknowledging that fact alone would have me back at meetings and knocking on doors.

Hi Wolfie!
I totally agree with you as to the past. Many were Df'd, many died! That's why it's such a hot issue that they now wish was gone. In some countries, lately, in order to maintain their status as a legitimate religion, they have had to state in writing that it is a conscious issue, and that no JW would be sanctioned in any way if they choose to take blood. I forget now which countries.
I doubt they will ever make a blanket recantation.

Hi e-m,
You mean Bulgaria? Yep, when the Bulgarian government refuses the Witnesses legal recognition, the Watchtower appealed at the Eoúropean court. There, both parties came up with a compromise. The WT would not sanction its members because of the blood issue, and the Bulgarian Gov't would give the Witnesses legal status.

It's amazing that the Watchtower needs a secular government to step in and force them to do what's morally right.
Jim, I appreciate your sentiments about them dropping the FDS thing (which of course will never happen), but then they should go back and reinstate everyone who was disfellowshipped over blood.
Another nice gesture would be to sell their Rand warfare technology stock and use that mega money to pay restitution to those who have lost loved ones over their Pharisee blood doctrine.
And then eliminating the Nazi elder training would help too. Maybe then they might understand what love and compassion is. Oh what's the point, I could go on and on and on and on.....

Sorry folks, but for me, this is no small issue, where they are just trying to do the right thing.
This is downright disgusting!! How many thousands of people have lost loved ones, or how many parents have lost children, and made the gut wrenching, and heart breaking choice of letting their child die because of some sick, erroneous, man inspired rule from the Governing Body - which had "God's backing" - and any defection to the contrary was tantamount to apostacy?
And now they possibly want to change it to being a conscience matter?
While I think the move is a good one -- I cannot imagine what this move will do for those who made a choice AGAINST their own conscience, because of what "God" wanted!
The sooner these idiots are run out of business the better!
May they receive FULL judgement for their satanic and blatant demonic ways!
I hate religion soooooooo much!:rant::rant:
I remember trying to explain the blood issue to my father who thought it was so wrong in every way and he just shook his head and said ''what do you do with people like that.'' I was so sad at the time because I felt he just didn't understand and now I am so sad because I didn't... :crybaby:

Exactly sis....its never been a conscience matter - most JW's I know, take the blood issue with Nazi-like adherence - they enjoy the fact that this is yet another distinguishing mark of "true Christianity".
Ya know, to me its not about the blood issue...its about a group of men, making rules, and then saying that this is what God wants....and then they change the rules, saying effectively that God has changed his mind!
But what makes this different to any other rule change, is that this has cost THOUSANDS of lives! And while some went down the "loyal to the bitter end" with full choice and desire -- I would wager my life on the reality, that if it WERE a conscience matter from the start - the number of people who sacrificed themselves for "God" would take a dramatic decrease!
Im getting chills! :shocked::shocked::shocked:
