Full Version: The Reasons for God's Judgments

While considering the words of God, as found in the book of Jeremiah, I found these reasons for His judgments against Jerusalem. (Jeremiah 9:2-9): "And who’ll provide a post-house in the desert, where I can go and leave all my people, for they are committing adultery, and breaking their Agreement [with God].

"'Their tongues are stretched tight like bows, as lies and mistrust now grow in the land, for they chase after evil upon evil… they do not know Me,’ says Jehovah.

"‘Let each man keep an eye on his neighbor, and not rely upon his own brother, for their brothers will stomp them under their heels, and their friends will [try to] deceive them. For each one [laughs at] his friends, and in no way do they speak the truth, because their tongues have learned to speak lies. They do whatever is wrong, and they won’t stop to turn back. They’re compiling interest on interest, as well as treachery on treachery, for they do not wish to behold Me,’ says Jehovah.

"‘Because of this,’ says Jehovah of Armies: ‘{Look!} I’ll try them, then set them on fire! For, what else can I do before the face, of the wickedness of the daughter of My people? For, their tongues are piercing like arrows, and the words from their mouths are deceitful. And though each one speaks peace to his neighbors, inside they really feel hatred. Shouldn’t I pay them a visit for this,’ asks Jehovah, ‘and upon them bring all My vengeance?’"

Message: You won't be able to trust husbands, wives, friends of family. That's where we are now.

The decrease in memberships of Christendom's churches, as mentioned in another thread below, reflects this growing badness among those who claim to be worshipers of God (as in ancient Jerusalem), which causes me to wonder how much longer He will tolerate it.
JWHVACR,

Your words and the scriptures above ring true with my own experiences while being a Jehovah's Witness.

The people you had to be the most careful with are your own family and friends.

You could not say too much to them because they could so easily destroy you.

The main thrust of any JW fellowship outside of meetings was in looking for ways to reprove your fellow JW or undermine their dignity in the hopes that they might actualy obtain some dignity for themselves.

and ...... they like it that way.

On the other hand with strangers or people I worked with I could open up and speak freely.

Where is the love?

"Which causes me to wonder how much longer He will tolerate it. "

Been wondering the same thing for awhile myself..

I know I am done. :funnyface:
I guess just have to wait for him.
Well, on the news (CNN) this morning, the news world was atwitter with news about Tiger Woods. Yet, most men that I know are simply envious of him, while most women wish they'd been involved.

News is no longer news, but titillation.
Well it seems to me that God is patient with us because he doesn't want any to be destroyed but all to attain to repentance. A survey was done on pastors and such types who had fallen into adulatory and they were asked why it happened. The common thread with almost all of them was that they `never saw it coming`. Seems to me that the biblical wisdom is true that whenever we think we are strong is precisely when we are weakest.

I hope I never live to see the end of the world because thats when time for repentance runs out.

Yes, waiting and enduring play an important role in our salvation.

Psal 119
75 I well know, O Jehovah, that your judicial decisions are righteousness
And that with faithfulness you have afflicted me.

76 May your loving-kindness serve, please, to comfort me,
According to your saying to your servant.

77 Let your mercies come to me, that I may keep living;
For your law is what I am fond of.

78 Let the presumptuous ones be ashamed, for without cause they have misled me.
As for me, I concern myself with your orders.

79 Let those fearing you turn back to me,
Those also knowing your reminders.

80 Let my heart prove faultless in your regulations,
In order that I may not be ashamed.

81 For your salvation my soul has pined away;
For your word I have waited.
