Just some thoughts for evryone on Global warming and other possibility's of the planet.
First. I have noticed a major climate change where I live.
is it global warming?
What if the plates have shifted as well as the earths path, and maybe even that woble/ tilt that they talk about.
we may just not be where we think we are in realation to the earths core anymore. I think that the evidence that volcanoes leave scaring across the face of the planet supports this idea. Also my simple logic says it is a great way for different areas to end up with more plant and animal changes due to the actual climate. We definately adapt to our surroundings. it might be part of the mechanism to help keep things diverse. new and fresh not boring..

Hi TD,
It may be - but as you know, climate is different from weather, so I suppose it's a case of looking at past climate for your area and the next few years climate too.

 Hey Frank, good topic!
This is something EVERYone is talking about, isn't it? They have to draw a line, though, like you either totally believe in all the nuances meant by 'global warming', or you totally don't believe any of it.
Me - I believe some of it. :giggle: And I don't believe some of it. ;)
The weather where we live is way different than it was 50 years ago, but that's the only slice of the whole picture I've been alive to see. I think the earth's climate is an ever evolving thing that courses through cycles, and these cycles might be hundreds or thousands of years in length. Maybe it corresponds to the Bible's "ages" or aeons of time? Then there are natural actions and natural reactions - shifting and reshifting continental and oceanic plates, consequences of weather events... even the changes affect everything else somehow - a never-ending 'butterfly effect'. But I still think the changes we've witnessed in our own areas, in our short lives, are small pieces of the larger global puzzle and the larger aeonic cycle. There's no doubt that changes have happened, happen now and will continue to happen - but I find great comfort in the scripture that says God will bring an end to those trying to ruin the earth - revealing that the earth is not yet ruined when He stops them - and whatever man has done ruinously, God promises to set it right. No matter what valiant and noble efforts are done to stop the evil ruinators, it could never be enough to actually stop them - nothing will but God's own hand!
Sorry, I think I went a little off topic there, can ya believe it? Lol!
Love to you bro. Frank, and to all y'all! :peace:
yes willa--what you said. Three winters ago we got record breaking snow fall--we all thought it would Never stop or that we would get out from under it all--last winter was record breaking cold--down below minus 50 for months. (the going joke here was a little more global warming and we would freeze to death) That was tough going and this winter it is moderate by either of those winters--not so much snow as then and not so cold for as long a time. Balance--it is all in the balance... :heartbeat:
Hi Frank,
The Earth's orbit and tilt does change in cycles over a very long time. If you Google, "Precession of the Equinoxes" you should see quite a lot on the subject These changes are believed to have caused the Ice Ages as proposed by the scientist, Malenkovich. We are a long way from the point at which cooling would occur from this cause.
Also, it would be immediately obvious to astronomers if the Earth had shifted/was shifting differently to normal, because the stars would appear to have moved/or were moving relative to their usual orbits. For example moving to a different location to normal.
Radio Astronomy uses fixed distant 'radio' star sources to check odd movements of the earth on its axis. The changes discovered are
extremely small.
The crust of the earth, in relative terms, is thinner than the shell on egg. So it is not surprising the convection currents in the semi-molten mantle under the crust, cause the crust to move and shake the ground when this thin crust, that is broken into 'plates', rub up against one other.
If I remember rightly there are three crusts rubbing against each other in the relatively small area around Haiti.
We are just specs of dust, on a speck of dust, in the vastness of space.
AND YET God loves we frail creature of flesh and blood.
I believe global warming is occurring, because, simply put, the CO2 man has put in the atmosphere traps heat that should actually be going out into space. Of course there are many other cycles mixing with this human input. Both short and long term cycles. It is very complex to compute the result.
blessings to you
Derek

Brother, I am not really trying to figure out if global warming is occuring.
"We are a long way from the point at which cooling would occur from this cause"
This is the question I raise with that comment. what about the "little ice age" that just occured acording to scientists. I believe it was in the last couple hundred years.
Also I am really more exponding on the possiblilty's what is the cosmos is a big pottooooo soup and it has warm spots and cooler spots in it? and we are on our merry go round within the greater merry go round.?
I just feel that nature tells me that cyclical things are the nature of a circle the end meets the begining. I think it is like someone has said a "Closed Loop"
someone wise said "their is nothing new under the sun"
Hi Jony, it is all relative..compared to geological time, or OTH to the YEC's living in a chronology that believes in a micron thin slice of time.
A very long time in the context of TD discussion is in a few tens of thousands of years.
regards
Derek
Earth's orbit and the tilt does not change much longer cycles. If you Google "precession of the equinoxes", should see much about these changes are suspected to have caused the glacial period as proposed by the scientist, Malenkovich. We are far from where the cooling will occur as a result.

Pardon me for being nosy, but can admin give us a little heads up about why derek got banned?
Thanks a million,

Hi TD,
We have huge dust storms here at times which turns everything pitch black or red. They have been happening for millennia, so nothing unusual. There was one in Sydney last year, 2009, described as 'an apocalyptic red haze' and wreaked havoc everywhere. If you ventured outside, you would literally be sandblasted.
I've been reading a mag 'Australian Geographic' and an article, Red Dawn, Rolling Thunder says - 'Lake Eyre dust that has been found in ice-core samples from the Antarctic proves that such events have occurred for many thousands of years. There's also increasing speculation that the iron and nutrients that blow into the oceans around Australia could be crucial nutritional supplement that fuels phytoplankton blooms."
In case you are wondering, Lake Eyre is a vast lake, it's basin spans four of our States and Texas fits into it 3 times.
:)Tessa
thanks Tessa,
So many things happen that we never even had a clue. And now we have camera's and satelites and all sorts of things that record these events.
It seems that people have the time to specualte and postulate whereas hundreds and thousands of years ago they just made story's about things they thought they saw.
they didn't have hard evidence of anything and we seem to now know it all.
I was in the british museum of science once and they had a big chart of temperature changes over the eons.
If I remember right it varied 100 degree's on the earths surface.
we would die with such variation I think.
so did it happen? I don't know.
I just hope it doesn't happen again if it did.
