Good afternoon all ...
In doing some thinking on the 'dew' thread ... my thoughts kind of went off on a tangent as I got to thinking on this scripture that in some ways ties into the other topic ... but is also kind of different so I thought I would put it under another heading ...
Matthew 6:11 ...
11 Give us today our bread for this day;
So often we have said these words ...
And yet I begin to wonder if there may be a deeper meaning than just our literal physical food that we may have just applied it as ... or maybe I'm just dense and just 'getting it' ... instead of seeking to find a 'figurative' application to this verse as well ...

I began to recall what Jesus said to those he spoke with concerning 'bread' and the wider meaning he put to it ...
John 6:32-35 ...
32 Hence Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, Moses did not give YOU the bread from heaven, but my Father does give YOU the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 Therefore they said to him: “Lord, always give us this bread.” 35 Jesus said to them: “I am the bread of life. He that comes to me will not get hungry at all, and he that exercises faith in me will never get thirsty at all.
So, with our praying for our 'daily bread' ... could we not also be like a reminder to us to ask to have our Lord in our daily ...?
To allow the WORDS HE SPOKE ... be as 'manna or bread' from above ... giving us spiritual sustenance as well as physical sustenance ...?
For did not our Lord also say to the Tempter
...
Matthew 4:4 ...
4 But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’”
And then further on he said concerning his 'food' ...
John 4:34 ...
34 Jesus said to them: “My food is for me to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.
So, with this thought to in mind ... in light of the 'daily bread' ... could this also not mean in a figurative way our 'Christian work' ... that of doing to other as we would have them do to us ... caring for orphans and widows ... speaking about the kingdom of God ... and so on ...
And when we 'feed' ... or 'do' ... these kinds of things ... do we not feel FULL ... do we not feel wonderful that we have allowed the work of the holy spirit to be operative upon us ... giving us sustenance to continue on ... to continue to be spiritual men and women
of God and his Son?!
So, may we indeed ask for and have our 'bread for this day' ... for it is wonderful bread indeed!!!
Just some meandering ponderings ...
Luv BR
