Interesting find in the February 15, 2010 Watchtower. :news:

Paragraph 8, beginning on page 15:

“The anointed followers of Christ have been extending the invitation since as far back as 1918. In that year, the public talk entitled ‘Millions Now Living May Never Die’ offered hope that many will gain life in a paradise earth after the battle of Armageddon.”

I understand that when Rutherford first gave the talk, it was entitled, “Millions Now Living May Never Die,” but a couple of months later, when it had enjoyed immense success, he exchanged "May” for “Will.”

Ironically, directly to the right of the latter half of this quote, on page 16, is a picture of an advertisement inviting the public to the talk. The invitation clearly reads, “Millions Now Living WILL Never Die.”

Resurrection of the Dead Soon..Millions now living will never die..

This is a true statement... Millions will die a spiritual death and be resurrected , and be reborn of the Spirit of Christ, so they will never taste a literal death. This is where the great crowd comes from, because they heard Christ voice calling them out to be taught personally by Him, in the wilderness and at rest. This is the 7th day, the time to be at rest in perfect obedience to the Spiritual sabbath, to give up our own rational thoughts, and to feed upon Christ. These are the great cloud of witnesses, who see and hear Christ, and are witnesses of this.

This as it was with Daniel, Paul, and John, they were struck out of their senses, while the visions lasted upon them. So this same thing has been witnessed by many in the ones that observe the sabbath, and rest in Him. These ones gave forth the element of Reason shut up in them, and their own senses given up, to take in the purer Spirit of Truth from above, that descends from God, so that they too can see and understand deep revelations. This is the only way to walk with God, and have His favor.

As Paul said, "Knowing that while we are present with the body of sense, we are absent from the Lord. This is where the Watchtower fails, and keeps our brothers and sisters prisoners to the rational senses, and keeps them from hearing God, and having their names written in the book of life. Christ is standing at the door knocking, but will we hear his voice?

Boy ain't this a kicker.

This will be the second time in about four or five days that the "millions now living will never die" fantasy, has crossed my mind.

The thread here, about the latest incarnation of "generation", then one on Topix were the catalysts.

Over there, an elderly sister still enthralled by the Watchtower Religion could not see the difference in the changes of definition of "generation".

When another poster asked me if I agreed with him, that this sisters' inability to discern the "truth" about the WT's revolving door definitions of "generation", was sad; my mother came to mind and I posted this: http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jeho...5F/post168

I had forgotten that two years ago, a thread was started on this board that "millions now living will never die" was being republished; I made a similar comment: http://www.paradisecafediscussions.net/s...3#pid34153

So, now four years after her death, and I guess I still feel the same about the fantasy she was fed.


This coincidence may be a message to me.

I must meditate deeply upon this; methinks I still have some anger to resolve and forgiveness to extend.

I am so sorry. :rose: :hug: This is why I do what I do. Never from malicious intent, but out of the tender heart God has given me for the pain, heartache and broken families the Watchtower leaves in its wake.

The snare of the 7-step indoctrination method is very powerful. But it doesn't hold a candle to the blood of Jesus.

I personally think the "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" doctrine is
THE "covenant with death" mentioned in Isaiah Chapter 28.

Isaiah 28
14 Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, YOU braggarts, YOU rulers of this people who are in Jerusalem: 15 Because YOU men have said: “We have concluded a covenant with Death; and with She´ol we have effected a vision; the overflowing flash flood, in case it should pass through, will not come to us, for we have made a lie our refuge and in falsehood we have concealed ourselves”;


I cannot think of a more pervasive covenant with death made by any other religion or organization than; "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" .

Except for this one:

Genesis 3:4
4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die.

I suppose, at least, rulers of Jerusalem were admitting that their (presumed) protection was bought through a lie. And theirs was a physical protection, from people - not from Divine retribution. Their human enemy was very very real before their eyes.

In contrast, those who built the "Millions Now Living" doctrine at that time didn't have an attacking enemy before them, just presumptuousness - and perhaps the fear of growing obscure. Perhaps that fear of obscurity is prompting it again now with the recent echo of that claim.

Surely, though we would not wish it on them, it would be better for leaders to be slain by a human enemy - proverbial millstone around the neck - than to temporarily preserve life and reputation by deliberately misrepresenting God - especially where it is misleading sincere hearts in their worship. My goodness, we humans repeat the same mistakes generation after generation - how much more proof do we need that we cannot manage without God's guidance.

I don't think Isaiah was addressing his contemporaries with this scripture although this is what the Watchtower Society teaches.

Jehovah explained to Isaiah how he will do away with the covenant with death.

Isaiah 28:16
therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Here I am laying as a foundation in Zion a stone, a tried stone, the precious corner of a sure foundation. No one exercising faith will get panicky.

Who is Jehovah talking about here?

Jesus Christ!

Notice also that it says; .... "a tried stone".

After Jesus Christ was tried he was crucified and then ressurected.

Please carefully think about this.

The covenant with death will be dissolved after Jesus Christ is tried.

So what rulers was Isaiah addressing?

Isaiah 28
Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, YOU braggarts, YOU rulers of this people who are in Jerusalem

Isaiah must have been addressing rulers existing after Jesus Christs crucifiction!

These rulers will have made a covenant with death.

Once again I say that; "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" is the most profound and pervasive covenant with death that I can find occuring since Jesus Christs trial.

Now this is going to upset a lot of members on this forum because many do not want to believe that the Governing Body has anything to do with the rulers of people in Jerusalem, the holy city.

Yet it is difficult to deny that it really is them who have made this covenant.
