I heard through a small grapevine that at the Theocratic Ministry School there is supposed to be some exciting announcement regarding the Watchtower in the beginning of 2008?
What is it?
What is it?
:coffeeread:...pure truth...:eat: A 'special' and 'a peculiar people' - I always liked that, Propman, finally being part of the 'in crowd'... I took a lot of pride in my self-assured attitude. Made me feel REEL smart and SO speshul. :taphead: That was the constant message in the studies - how smart JW's are for having all this insider info[applaud the f&ds], and how we're blessed every step along the way 'by association'[applaud the f&ds & gb]- and certainly 'above' all those poor stupid saps out there in other religions that just don't get it.[applaud the f&ds & the publishing corp.] :readthis: It feels SO good to be right ALL the time! :read: (Prov.27:2 - May a stranger, and not your own mouth, praise you; may a foreigner, and not your own lips, do so.") Common sense.
 Shame on me, but I liked it. :imsorry:  I wanted to feel superior and the wtbts supports and promotes prideful self-righteousness. I wore my own pride like a heavy, ill-fitting overcoat,(didn't quite feel right, but I was convinced it must be right if wtbts said so) with feigned respect and false love towards my neighbor, 'Christendom'. In my heart I was pre-judging them all as prospective 'birdfood' - all 'so-called Christians' were evil dogs, demon-worshipping fools and liars, 'Jesus Freaks' unworthy of Jehovah's love.... worthy of death. No wonder I never felt the assurance of God's love for myself - I was also judging myself with that attitude.
We learn a lot when we're able to let go of pride... for me it was and is a foremost sin and where I continue to learn my biggest lessons of the depth of our Heavenly Father's great love for every single one of us - whoever loves Him. Through Christ He forgives us - whoever loves Him and walks accordingly in His spirit. To feel His love with certainty is a very humbling experience.
As Beau has always colorfully highlighted - forgiveness is The BIG thing! It's the whole reason God sent His Son - he's our forgiveness. God wants to forgive, so we have to point everyone in the right direction for forgiveness >>> to Christ. If they don't hear his voice and follow him, well, it's ultimately their choice - but we must point to The Way. If the holy spirit is truly guiding your efforts you don't need to read the same things over and over - you know it by heart :heartbeat:, you trust The Source :worthy:, you believe it and by example you live it :friends:. What God truly 'requires' is so far removed from book-learnin' it's not even funny - 'He has told you, O earthling man, what is good. And what is Jehovah asking back from you but to exercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God.' [Micah 6:8 NWT] Funny - I got that wonderous insight from a Book!:PÂ Â Well, once we really 'get' The Message, a continued 'devotion' to 'many books' really IS 'wearisome to the flesh', isn't it?
My :2cents:(but it'll cost ya :dollar:!)
:peace:
LIVE THE KINGDOM NOW!~Gus~
Garbage like???,Hmm I guess not for millions who may find upbuilding articles. But I respect your assessment.
You're correct Prop!!!
In fact, thats exactly the reason they stated in the letter from Mom!!
My guess is the legal dept. wants more control over what the "public" is allowed to read, and allows more esoteric language in the study articles to be given to the ranks. To receive the study mag, one has to be a publisher or studying. More like the Km is now.
You can say that again, Sister. Was listening to a discourse on the subject the last couple days about the insidiousness of pride. It's the end result of selfishness run amok. Those that possess it in large doses are unaware that they have the disease, and it's next to impossible for others to point it out. Ultimately what it does is destroy the conscience. It belittles others and ultimately disregards God. As I heard someone say recently, "Prior to our immersion, we are asked 3 questions, one of which has to do with acknowledging our shortcomings along with a need for a savior. Then we tend to spend the rest of our lives justifying ourselves."
My thoughts EXACTLY!
An upbuilding lie is still a lie.
"You positively will not die"....remember that one?
SoJ; if I want 'upbuilding' articles there are plenty of other things to read besides the WT. This is so very hard for JW's to accept as fact, but it is.
The WT has a singular agenda and it isn't cheerful journalism.
