I heard through a small grapevine that at the Theocratic Ministry School there is supposed to be some exciting announcement regarding the Watchtower in the beginning of 2008?

What is it?
I heard there will be two Watchtower publications a month. one for the JWs only , and one for the public.
Seriously?!?!

I'm almost afraid to ask: "why?......."
A quick guess...

The "public" one will be some watered down, slick marketed, vanilla rag.

The "JW-only" rag will contain all the loaded JW language they can pack into 32 pages. Garbage like, "John-class", "faithfull slave", and on and on and on...Written exclusively in JW "code" so that the "us-them" seperation can become even further.

Perhaps some one has figured out that there is no longer any difference between your garden variety JW and a Catholic. Time to section off a piece of the franchise and focus a laser beam on all the slackers to tighten up ranks without sounding like a wierdo to all the regular "worldy" folks.

Its a combination of marketing to the world, and isolating the folks even more than they already are.

:coffeeread:...pure truth...:eat: A 'special' and 'a peculiar people' - I always liked that, Propman, finally being part of the 'in crowd'... I took a lot of pride in my self-assured attitude. Made me feel REEL smart and SO speshul. :taphead: That was the constant message in the studies - how smart JW's are for having all this insider info[applaud the f&ds], and how we're blessed every step along the way 'by association'[applaud the f&ds & gb]- and certainly 'above' all those poor stupid saps out there in other religions that just don't get it.[applaud the f&ds & the publishing corp.] :readthis: It feels SO good to be right ALL the time! :read: (Prov.27:2 - May a stranger, and not your own mouth, praise you; may a foreigner, and not your own lips, do so.") Common sense.

 Shame on me, but I liked it. :imsorry:  I wanted to feel superior and the wtbts supports and promotes prideful self-righteousness. I wore my own pride like a heavy, ill-fitting overcoat,(didn't quite feel right, but I was convinced it must be right if wtbts said so) with feigned respect and false love towards my neighbor, 'Christendom'. In my heart I was pre-judging them all as prospective 'birdfood' - all 'so-called Christians' were evil dogs, demon-worshipping fools and liars, 'Jesus Freaks' unworthy of Jehovah's love.... worthy of death. No wonder I never felt the assurance of God's love for myself - I was also judging myself with that attitude.

We learn a lot when we're able to let go of pride... for me it was and is a foremost sin and where I continue to learn my biggest lessons of the depth of our Heavenly Father's great love for every single one of us - whoever loves Him. Through Christ He forgives us - whoever loves Him and walks accordingly in His spirit. To feel His love with certainty is a very humbling experience.
As Beau has always colorfully highlighted - forgiveness is The BIG thing! It's the whole reason God sent His Son - he's our forgiveness. God wants to forgive, so we have to point everyone in the right direction for forgiveness >>> to Christ. If they don't hear his voice and follow him, well, it's ultimately their choice - but we must point to The Way. If the holy spirit is truly guiding your efforts you don't need to read the same things over and over - you know it by heart :heartbeat:, you trust The Source :worthy:, you believe it and by example you live it :friends:. What God truly 'requires' is so far removed from book-learnin' it's not even funny - 'He has told you, O earthling man, what is good. And what is Jehovah asking back from you but to exercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God.' [Micah 6:8 NWT] Funny - I got that wonderous insight from a Book!:P  Well, once we really 'get' The Message, a continued 'devotion' to 'many books' really IS 'wearisome to the flesh', isn't it?
My :2cents:(but it'll cost ya :dollar:!)

LIVE THE KINGDOM NOW!~Gus~

~I feel like I was kept in a dark room and fed a steady diet of.... hey! I'm a mushroom!~
Amen to that Willa! Maybe they will also save on funds by not printing so many mags anymore.:dontknow: Whatever, it doesn't bode well, and maybe the society actually thinks that they have fullfilled all the preaching assignment as we heard a couple of weeks ago, and will now only dish out the dregs, just in case they have missed anyone!:cry:Either way, as Propmin said, it will divide even more the barrier between witnesses and non. Woe to them for their lack of empathy and love towards others, their own members included!:readthis:

Christian love to all.

Garbage like???,Hmm I guess not for millions who may find upbuilding articles. But I respect your assessment.

My immediate response to the witness who told me at work? I thought "great, now they can feed the publishers more interpretation nonscense, have them believe it all, without public scrutiny."

A "I wish I could help everyone Thursday!"

You're correct Prop!!!
In fact, thats exactly the reason they stated in the letter from Mom!!
My guess is the legal dept. wants more control over what the "public" is allowed to read, and allows more esoteric language in the study articles to be given to the ranks. To receive the study mag, one has to be a publisher or studying. More like the Km is now.

You can say that again, Sister. Was listening to a discourse on the subject the last couple days about the insidiousness of pride. It's the end result of selfishness run amok. Those that possess it in large doses are unaware that they have the disease, and it's next to impossible for others to point it out. Ultimately what it does is destroy the conscience. It belittles others and ultimately disregards God. As I heard someone say recently, "Prior to our immersion, we are asked 3 questions, one of which has to do with acknowledging our shortcomings along with a need for a savior. Then we tend to spend the rest of our lives justifying ourselves."

Found this on wikipedia:

Beginning in 2008, The Watchtower will have different focuses in the two issues that are published each month. The issue published on the first of each month will focus on religious articles that will be offered to the general public. The issue published on the fifteenth of each month will contain the congregational study articles for the month and other interorganizational materials that will be directed to current members and other interested ones but will not be offered to the general public.

My thoughts EXACTLY!

The "public" WT will also not contain WT jargon like "Faithful and Discreet Slave" "Pioneer", "Governing Body", etc.

An upbuilding lie is still a lie.

"You positively will not die"....remember that one?

SoJ; if I want 'upbuilding' articles there are plenty of other things to read besides the WT. This is so very hard for JW's to accept as fact, but it is.

The WT has a singular agenda and it isn't cheerful journalism.

:prop:--say no to religious :borg:'s--:priest:

Good for you Willa! :ok:

I'm so glad you have been blessed with the freedom Christ gives!
