Good Morning, Everyone! :hibye: Daily Scriptural Text for Wednesday, February 14, 2007:

30 Also, some from your own group will rise up and twist the truth and will lead away followers after them[selves]. 31 So be careful!
--Acts 20:30 (and 31-a), New Century Version.

Complementary Scriptures:

15 Do your best to know that God is pleased with you. Be as a workman who has nothing to be ashamed of. Teach the words of truth in the right way. 16 Do not listen to foolish talk about things that mean nothing. It only leads people farther away from God. 17 Such talk will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are like this. 18 They have turned from the truth. They say the dead have already been raised. The faith of some people has been made weak because of such foolish talk. 19 But the truth of God cannot be changed. It says, "The Lord knows those who are His." And, "Everyone who says he is a Christian must turn away from sin!"--2 Timothy 2:15-19, New Life Version.
__________

45 "Who then is a faithful and sensible slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time?"--Matthew 24:45, Holman Christian Standard Bible.
__________

My comment:

10 "None of you should be called the leader. The Messiah is your only leader."--Matthew 23:10, Contemporary English Version.

Have A Wonderful Wednesday, Everybody!
We Are ALL Brothers And Sisters Under The ONE Leader Christ Jesus!

Much LOVE to ALL! isomam

Good morning iso ... the coffee and muffins are really yummy this morning ...:coffeeread::drinking:

I see you are a man of 'few' words this morning ...;):detective::huh::giverose:

Well ... the Scriptures are rather 'self explanatory' aren't they ...!:D

I thought it 'funny' that you should underline the part of the Scripture in Acts about 'being careful' ...

There is a brother here where we live who makes note of that very caution when reading Jesus' account of the last days ... he says ... WHAT was it that was FIRST on Jesus' mind when he spoke about this 'time period' ...

DO NOT BE MISLED ...

So, obviously it was going to be a BIG or MAJOR concern for those who were seeking to walk in the FOOTSTEPS OF THE LORD ... CHRIST JESUS ... and NOT the footsteps of MERE MEN ... men who would we THINK would be 'Godly' ... but were in actuality ... having men walk after THEM instead of the who we should be walking after ...:(

HOW could we be 'MISLED' ... wouldn't it be OBVIOUS to us that someone was looking for followers for themselves instead of Christ Jesus and his heavenly Father?

The word for 'misled' (as used in our Bible) is planao ...

to (prop. cause to) roam (from safety, truth, or virtue):- go astray, deceive, err, seduce, wander, be out of the way.

This words comes from plane when means ...

obj. fraudulence; subj. a straying from orthodoxy or piety:- deceit, to deceive, delusion, error

When I looked up this definition I couldn't help but reflect on the Scripture at 2 Thess. 2:11 ...

11 So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie, 12 in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness.

How is it possible that we COULD be misled ... and is there any way that we can AVOID being so ...

Well ... IMHO ... if we DO NOT LOOK to the SOURCE ... GOD'S WORD for confirmation ... and study and meditate on IT ... and PRAY for wisdom, guidance and discernment ... then indeed ... words carefully worded COULD misled us into thinking that something that is a LIE is in 'fact' TRUTH ...

The ONLY way therefore to AVOID being misled is to be like a Beroean ... check things out CAREFULLY in light of GOD'S words ... and NOT men's ...

What I also found interesting in the definition of the Greek word was this particular aspect of the meaning ...

roam from safety, truth, or virtue

So, in allowing ourselves to be misled by false teachings of men we go AWAY from being SAFE ... and go TOWARD being in DANGER ... of GOING AWAY FROM JEHOVAH ... our TRUE source of safety and a haven and a fortress ... indeed from TRUTH ...

Which is ironic since we, as 'Jehovah's Witnesses', who say we are ... 'in the truth' ... and yet have come to find so many 'lies' ...:crybaby::crybaby:

Yes, let us NOT BE MISLED ...

Thanks for the meal my brother ... your sis and friend ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
Yes, as many scriptures tell us, not to trust in men, or even ourselves. Our source of truth should come only from the Bible, with our own eyes and not that of others.:read: We alone should discern what Jehovah is telling us, even though we don't understand all at the moment. We have one leader, Christ, and that is sufficient. We don't need anybody else.
Christian love to all.
