When lilacs bloom,
I remember when,
My life began
And I was happy.
A time when all there was
Was sunshine
And laughter
As we tumbled through palaces
That were all in our imaginations.

When lilacs bloom,
I remember when,
My life made sense,
And I was still innocent.
A time when all there were
Were friends
And blackberries
That dyed our tongues purple
And were as sweet as the sunlight.

When lilacs bloom,
I remember when
My life was different
And I didn’t know the world.
A time when all there was
Was innocence
And that scent
Wafting in the winds of change,
Showing me that some things never do.

Because lilacs and sunshine
Always remain
And when lilacs bloom
I know that I can survive
Because there was a time
When all there was
Was love
Was laughter
Was life.
As the scent of lilacs came
And things were once gain perfect
And can be again
Because lilacs will always bloom.
Very beautiful poem draka. It's amazing how a scent can bring back memories.
Lilacs are one of my favourites. The scent brings me back to my childhood. While I was out exploring one spring afternoon I came across an old lilac patch. There used to be a farm there many many years ago, not much was left, although I could tell where the old farmhouse was. It was surrounded by beautiful lilac bushes, two different shades of purple and white, plus the old apple trees from the orchard. I used to lay in the middle of the clearing, soaking up the sunshine, inhaling the heavenly scent of those lilacs.

You could look up in the sky, imagine the shapes of the clouds, watch the butterflies flitting from one bush to the other, listen to the song birds, the bees buzzing around. Imagine the families that used to live there, imagine that the children used to lay in the same spot I was and look up at the same sky.

Thank you for bringing me back to a warm spring afternoon, in the midst of the cold winter we are in right now.

beautiful poem Draka,

I have very fond memories from my childhood about lilacs. The smell and breaking them off and putting them in my hair.

Thanks for resufaceing such lovely memories.

Me tooo:clap: I remember a big lilac bush in our yard.

So I have now about 10 lilac bushes in my yard. as they are one of my most favorite.. I have dark purple light purple white, and some pinkish ones too..
And blackberries
That dyed our tongues purple
And were as sweet as the sunlight.

One of my earliest memories is eating a bowl of dead-ripe blackberries, still warm from the sun with milk and a sprinkle of sugar. I was 2 years old.

I too remember lilacs. We used to have a wall of lilacs where I used to live, and I used to curl up under their shade with a book and a blanket and just sit there all day, within what I considered my sanctuary, where I was safe. Even now, the smell of Lilacs in June and July makes me feel safe. :birds:
