''An answer, when mild, turns away rage, but a word causing pain makes anger to come up.''--Prov. 15:1 :rose: :rose:

How true are these words as well as insightful --anger is a result of pain and of course we don't want to inflict that on anyone. A few scriptural thoughts: :rose: :rose:

''Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
Exodus 34:6 :rose: :rose:

''You are a GOd of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love.'' Nehemiah 9:17 :rose:

''Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper--
it only leads to harm.'' Psalm 37:8 :rose:

''The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.'' Psalm 103:8 :rose:

''Sensible people control their temper, they earn respect by over-
looking wrongs.''
Proverbs 19:11 :rose:

''Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.''
Ephesians 4: 31-32 :rose: :rose:

''Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be
quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger
does not produce the righteousness God desires.'' James 1: 19-20 :rose: :rose:

''He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threatened revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.''
1 Peter 2:23 ...interesting how it always comes back to faith :heartbeat: :rose: :rose:

Have a wonderful day today friends--see you all later

thanks, sis wolfie! :giverose: apples of gold ... well, you know the rest. ;)

it's interesting (to me) how the scriptures describe god (yhwh) as being "slow to anger," rather than "anger-less." which indicates (again, to me) that anger on the part of god is sometimes a necessary and appropriate response. i think we've all heard the expression, "righteous indignation." it's easy to overlook the caveat, "righteous." is there a "righteous" man or woman? presently, no; not in and of ourselves. the righteousness we enjoy right now is that which has been graciously imputed to us by god and christ. so, the follow-up question in my mind is this: "if no one is righteous in the full and complete sense, how can anyone claim they are feeling or acting in "righteous indignation"? ... or, "righteous anger"? :dontknow: i'm just askin'.

so, i guess the very minimum or "lowest bar" i am seeking to achieve as part of my christian personality is to be "slow to anger"; better yet, i think we can all hope to achieve "no" anger at all.

"vengeance is mine, and i shall repay, saith the lord."
