:hibye:Hi Brother Bangalor, I have a question? In para. #6 I noticed in referance to the scriptures about Abraham's seed that the society now apply this to the 144000. The fact that his seed were numberless like the stars and the grain of sand on the seashore, seems to me they at one time applied this to the great crowd. Why the change? thank you in advance for your help if you have that info. Chris:dontknow:
I think the WT’s explanation of Galatians 3:16 has some issues.

Issue1
Where does Galatians 3:16 - that is quoted - indicate any secondary part of the “seed”?

The scripture itself does not indicate this, saying that the “seed” was singular – Christ – even saying “ as in the case of one: “And to your seed,” ”.

16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. It says, not: “And to seeds,” as in the case of many such, but as in the case of one: “And to your seed,” who is Christ. Galatians 3:16

The above question provokes a related question: If YHWH told Abraham that his seed was going to be so numerous as the stars of the sky or the sands of the sea, then why would Galatians 3:16 point to just the singular “seed”?

Hi.. Bang..

I don't think God made us to live forever on the earth.. but rather in heaven... I don't see any evidence that we were ever meant to live more than 1,000 years.. do you?

Quote:
For our encouragement we should remember, that the only "call" yet made is to membership in the little flock. We are all called in one hope of our calling. (`Eph. 4:4`.) God has not during the Gospel age called some to the human plane and others to the "little flock of crown wearers," and others to the second class or "great company of palm bearers."

Only to the one class were any of us called, and all who have seen the prize, and accepted the invitation can, if they will, make their calling and election sure, by obedience to the conditions--full, complete self-sacrifice in the service of the Lord and under his direction. Those who shall compose the "great company" of palm bearers are those who have not done what they could--who after having consecrated all, even while they love righteousness and desire to see the truth prosper, are unwilling to sacrifice present comforts and interests by an open warfare on behalf of the truth and against error. These, while they love the Lord and the truth, do not love ardently enough to be acknowledged and crowned as overcoming soldiers of the cross. Surely our actions speak as loudly as our words, and it is in vain that any profess great love, if when the Master and the truth are assailed and misrepresented, they specially recognized agents and ambassadors shall keep quiet and fail to protest against the error for fear of some earthly disadvantage resulting.

Whoever then is begotten of the Spirit, and therefore able to appreciate and run for the prize of the "high calling" of the Gospel age, may know that he is called by the only call yet issued: and if willingly he shall sacrifice his all, he may be as sure of the prize as any other one running the same race. Such a disposition is an evidence of a timely consecration and acceptance and therefore of a begetting of the Spirit. Press nobly on, then, dear fellow-laborers, whether you have entered the harvest field recently or earlier: we serve the one Lord, in the one Faith, and by the one Baptism into his death; and for all such he has the crown of life reserved. "Hold fast that which thou hast, let no man take thy crown." Be strong in the Lord; be valiant; yea, be also of good courage.

Hi vr!
Gla 3:16 points to one seed, true, but other scrips like Gla. 3:29 say if we belong to Christ, then we are really Abraham's seed also. I think this points to the unity Jesus said we would have with him, that we are part of his "body".
Anyway, the Gen. prophecy says that the seed would be as many as the stars and grains of sand, so the WT's assumption that Abe's seed would be only 144K is nonsense!

HI all
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. It says, not: “And to seeds,” as in the case of many such, but as in the case of one: “And to your seed,” who is Christ. Galatians 3:16

Then in still speaking to the brothers of Christ ,Paul is telling them
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise. Gal 3 :26-29

It was Jehovah that made a Kingdom Covenant with His son
Jesus in turn made a Kingdom Covenant with his followers ,making up the 144,000
Luke 22:29 Jesus says
"" And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me,"

Jesus is the promised primary seed , but those that belong to Christ are the secondary seed , their being co-rulers with Christ in his Messianic Kingdom.

, All the nations will be blessed by this seed by being subjects of Christ 1000,year reign. This would include the great crowd and all those brought back in the resurrection.
We then will all be covered ,and living under the Kingdom Covenent.

This is my token on the scriptures.

Hi RR144,

Thanks for the heads up on the great multitude's second-class status, but I'm wondering which issue of the WT you're quoting? Can you give us a hint?

Oh and BTW, you look far better without the beard ... sort of George Clooney-ish? Cheers.

Love,

sw

I can't believe you believe the above,
They are unwilling !!!
yet they have a place in Heaven, !!!
Look at what your saying. I know a lot of nice people out in the world with that attitude
in Christendom
Yet they too believe their going to heaven.
Where are the scriptures to support that belief ?
