The Sea is my mother, my father the Sky. Both are eternal and vast, each in their way. As I rise slowly yet inexorably from my mother's protective embrace, I reach toward Father, my life-giver, now become my mentor. He draws me up as spiraling vapor, whose aspect is phantom-like, but possessing true substance.
Under the aegis of Sky, I will harness my chariot to Sister Wind and travel Earth's four corners, showering my bounty upon her children. They will laud me; they will offer me prayerful thanks. However, I will look upward toward Father and downward toward Mother, seeking their approbation.
It is they who have given me life and continued existence.
Praise must be directed accordingly ...
Dear CoCo,
When I first read your poem I felt a little miffed with the "mother earth" kind of thing. A little too "Wicca" for my blood.
But.....my brain kept thinking, afterward (can't stop it. LOL)
If the Israelite were the woman (wife) of Yahweh's than a united earth under ruler ship would be the woman, in a way. Although, spiritual Jerusalem may be argued as the woman.
So, thank you for provoking some thought.

Dear Debbie,
So nice to get a reply! Thanks much.
I know nothing about Wicca, so that's not an influence for me. You probably figured out that the "son" in question is simple old H2O, who's drawn up by the sun from the Sea to reside in the Sky and fall as rain. It's all metaphoric, of course. I never metaphor that I didn't like ...

actually willsgrim your request defeats the purpose of poetry imo. I write alot of poetry and never once have I written thinking of someone else and their opinions. The poet writes from inspiration within and it is a reflection of the writer--unless one is involved in truly commercial poetry which these are not--just genuine reflections of a moment caught in time --emotions that touch you deeply--a way to say what otherwise might come hard to express. Never may it be said something like that ''isn't good enough''--or needs to live up to the expectations of the reader. We may not always get the writer but when we do and find our heart touched by their words they have given and shared a wonderful gift. That is the beauty of poetry-it is good for the heart--and the soul...

Thank you, Wolfie and Digital_Punk:
I have the flu and fever and am a little confused as to my bearings and what to click, but thanks for the compliment. I've been away awhile and was surprised to see comments posted to my poetry.
See you later when I'm seeing clearly.
Gratefully,

Thanks, Wolfie.
Sorry it took so long getting back and thanking you. The fever actually came through as an integral part of my latest story.
Hope you and yours are well.
