What will be the basis for the judgment of mankind?
“For the Father has affection for the Son and . . . he has committed all the judging to the Son.â€â€”JOHN 5:20, 22.
4 And I saw thrones, and there were those who sat down on them, and power of judging was given them. Revelation 20:4
Consider: You are sitting in the Judgment seat. Gathered before you is a long line of persons - that you have been empowered to judge as to everlasting life or everlasting non-existence. What will be the basis for your determination?
Revelation notes that certain ones that are resurrected are granted “power of judgingâ€. Many persons never consider that they in their human imperfection and weakness would ever be in such a position. Doubtless the ones that are empowered to judge will be granted the “power†to be able to read the hearts and motives such that their judgments are righteous. I think that we should lay this incredible responsibility upon ourselves now as a way to start to be able to see how we would do if and when we were in this position. Jesus makes the determination of who he will empower as judges, and we can trust that he will not make this choice without basis on past performance. Jesus gives us a hint of the qualities of such ones in the parable of the faithful and discreet slave and the parable of the ten virgins. This group was online with staying awake and ready while the entire world under Satan’s domination were asleep. The quality of awakeness shows what these persons were about in that they had a zeal for the Master’s purposes, a drive not only to figure out the will of the Master but to be found in fine condition when the Master returned.
The Point
Driving home from work today I saw a teenage young man walking down the street in full punk regalia complete with a Mohawk haircut and headphones likely blaring punk’d out tunes. This young man is next in line at your Court session awaiting judgment.
What will be the basis for your determination of this young man's fate?
v r
hi, v r! :hibye: i just love this idea and your thought process. i especially appreciate the thoughtful way in which you have framed your question for us to consider and answer if we desire.
you didn't ask: "what will be your judgment of this young man?" (how could anyone know that answer, given our present insuffiency of information about the young man, other than his present appearance and demeanor?) :dontknow:
rather, you did ask: "what will be the basis for ... determination of this young man's fate?"
i would answer that question this way:
the young man suffers from hundreds of generations of inherited sin and its consequence, death, as part of his "hard-wired" (or, "inherited") make-up. he had absolutely no voice in this and no control over this eventuality. his present life choices merely reflect an insufficiency of experience with the creator's truthful explanation of mankind's present dilemma, the creator's promises, and the creator's ways. since judgment explicitly involves and includes ... "instruction; guidance; and direction" ... he must first be instructed in the "higher" ways of our grand creator. only then will there be a sufficient basis for evaluating what choices he will make for himself.
and we all know that is one of the primary functions of jesus' millennial reign yet to come.
thank you for the positive spiritual and mental stimulation. :giverose:
Thank God (lol) that God reads the heart...unfortunately the young man has a multiplicity of egos that constantly vie for control. We have to look at him with compassion and love. He needs to help himself, but he can't do that until he wakes from his slumber. He is asleep. He is dead in his sins.
It's just not so simple as 'will he get life or will he get everlasting destruction'. Jesus said, "by endurance on your part you will acquire your souls". (Luke 21:19) Evidently, we don't own our soul until we acquire it. That takes work on our parts. If we do the work, God will help us. The work is to awaken our Divine inner being. We do that by dissolving our egos.
Underneath the outward display of psychological aggregates (egos) that young man has a soul. That soul will exist forever as it is a part of God. The egos must be dissolved in the Lake of Fire. We can do it while we're here, which is very painful, or let nature take care of it (much more painfully) after we die.
Matthew 16:24 “If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself (egos) and pick up his torture stake and continually follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save his soul will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it. 26 For what benefit will it be to a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his soul? or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man is destined to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will recompense each one according to his behavior.

Joh 12:47 But if anyone hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I came, not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Joh 12:48 He that disregards me and does not receive my sayings has one to judge him. The word that I have spoken is what will judge him in the last day;
Joh 12:49 because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak.
Joh 5:22 "For neither does the Father judge anyone, _but_ He has given all judgment to the Son,
Joh 5:23 so that all shall be honoring the Son just as they honor the Father. The one not honoring the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
Goes against the standard view when one reads these two scriptures.
Wow! What a fun thread to open up in the morning, with my first cup:coffeeread::cheer:.
Isomam, I appreciated your significance of pointing out the "basis" of judgement.
My answer is we are being judged, continuously now. We are either children of lightness or darkness. I think the opportunity to bring people out of the darkness (we have opportunities to, now, too, just by making interactions) will be the determining "information" or value system to "judge" or analyze someone by. Those are perhaps in the scrolls.
In other words: We react and act in this life time to God or "goodness" in treating mankind and creation and the pain of crushed hearts. Jesus already knows how to Shepard his flock and gather people. We also know all kinds of sins (egos, demons? (just interpreting my variation from Jeshurun's post:hibye:) whether sins that we put into the world or ones that were inflicted upon us) cover us. Once the pressures "of this way of life" goes away and people are in safe harbors, "in the pen". Safe. Then our interactions can only produce what is "good".
Once people are in that state..then I suppose we could give a genuine judgment system. Until that state, my only value system is skewed by sins, personal experience, and working knowledge. If we are going to my "personal" opinion and the aupposing I'm judging, I'm sure its "heck, give everyone a chance" but I honestly think a lot of getting that chance is going on right now, by a holy value system that we should trust and have faith in. The sifting work is being done and the unrighteous will be destroyed or brought low. But, he gets a chance to rise up again, now. Perhaps we already live in the end of the millenium, you know with Jesus ruling in the mist of his enemies? That would be a trip, and then the second lake of fire happens and its all done. And a birdie chirps.

Here are a few scriptures that speak of resurrection and judgment --
"Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth––those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation."
"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books."
"But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each one according to his deeds. ... For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things required by the law, these who do not have the law are a law to themselves. They show that the work of the law is written in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend them, on the day when God will judge the secrets of human hearts, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus."
Hey VR,
You described a friend of mine in HS. I worked with him for the school after hours. Everyone thought he was a freak.
I knew him pretty well and he was a freak.. black nail polish eye liner he used egg whites to make his mohawk stand up it was 14 inches high at the time.
He was intelligent, caring and overall decent guy.
Thanks for reminding me of him.
as for your ?
"What will be the basis for your determination of this young man's fate?"
My basis is the same as for everyone else.
Does he recognize a higher moral standard? IF yes does he do his best to adhere to it?
If he does not see any higher moral standard find out why? Then check to see what his morals are and if he adhered to them.
I find that if you confront people with their own judgments’ or way of treating other people I usually see one of two responses.
They deny that they have done the very same thing they "judge others as doing" "or treat others in a way they themselves would not accept"
OR they recognize their own hypocrisy and drop the whole matter so to speak. And try to work thru the issues
This would not be for Life/death as far as I know only one is to judge that.
Acts 17:31
because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
Revelation 11:18
"And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth."
Revelation 19:11
[ The Coming of Christ ] And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
And to give a perspective on my belief in this matter.
Those considered to be living are not judged at this time. They had been judged their whole life and corrected and disciplined along the way.
It will only be those who had failed to Love Jesus or proved false in thier Love of him. That will recieve this judgement at this time from what I see.
How we treated others.
Matt 25
31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
Amplified Bible (AMP) John 3:19
"The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil."
If you read the entire OT, you'll see that despite all the laws and curses, what really angered God was when people ignored Him, and when they treated others poorly, especially the weak and helpless. Murder, robbery, extortion, idolatry, and adultery are frequently mentioned.
As a general rule; a person who places too much emphasis on himself has little regard for others. However, being too "freaky" also indicates a strong desire to fit in with other "freaks" that you like, and a deep emotional insecurity. So, it's hard to judge a person by his clothes.
On the other hand; I saw a young boy the other day who was walking with his mother. His ball cap was turned sideways, his pants were close to his knees, and the attitude was clear. All I thought of at the time was that (with his mother's permission) he is getting ready for a lifetime in prison and serving as someone's "punk." For, we create our own problems and punishment.
Hey all...
If one lives @ either the 1st or the 2nd coming of Christ period, then they would be judged on their belief in him... and his ideals..
But the rest of time, I believe we are judged on the things we had done in our lives.. our deeds... :eat:
I think isomam's viewpoint has the “basis†that hits to the heart of the manner in which the kings and priests – and the Master himself – are going to handle matters when the time comes to straighten out the situation here on planet earth.
Truly “the whole world lies in the power of the wicked one†– in ways I don’t think we can even begin to fathom - and that affects us at the core level. I beleive that mankind has been misled by the demonic system of things to the point that our base perceptions are twisted from the time we are born - even before that for many persons due to the faulty lifestyles of the parents (drugs, alcohol, lack of proper food, stress etc), even faulty DNA programming due to a blend of imperfection and poor nutrition and who knows what poisons being released into the food system. Even the air we breathe with the pollutants affects us. Add to that societal/family/environment influences and it’s a default that there is going to be misfires in thinking and emotional makeup.
Perception is everything, and if the core perception of a person is faulty due to the above factors then that in my mind would be Task1: Straighten out the perception factor.
This is why I think it such an ingenious idea to raise up persons as kings and priests that shared the pain of the last 6,000 years of history so as to have persons that know what they are doing as they analyze what it takes to straighten out persons, to be able to separate out all the factors and fairly and correctly analyze not only the causal factors but the remedy. And of course the Master himself was here as well and fully understands the issues involved. I suspect that once people are able to truly comprehend that Satan has been running the planet and be freed from the inherent problems from being born and raised in abnormal conditions, that the natural desire of persons to straighten themselves out in accord with the wonderful aims of the Creator will start to unfold of its own accord.
To really understand I think will become apparent as ones with misperceptions are brought alive and well into the new earth, and then healed of whatever mental emotional conceptual malfunctions they have, thus giving persons a clean start. I’m uncertain where the lines are between knowingly committing misconduct that cannot be considered in the realm of learned or born-with behavior, but we can be certain that wherever those lines are the kings and priests will be empowered to accurately see them and be able to take all factors into consideration.

Funny thing perspective. Our reality seems to be shaped by our individual perspective.
Our group perspective shapes our towns /villages and states and so on.
So in reality what is right for one can be wrong for another.
thou many may not see it this way as we tend to hold others up to the standards of our own reality.
I would say that alot of work is going to focus on what is really real and what has been a distorted lie.
If we were kept in isolation and told the same thing over and over and had no thought or ability to find out for ourself we could be lead to believe just about any lie. I can think of a few religions that use this method.
It actually might be an afront to our heavenly Fathers very nature but based on the perspective of the parents the group and our the ruling class it may come across as gospel from God's own mouth.
our lifes reality's are based solely on the input we get from the world around us. if we have the beaten dog syndrome we will shy back whenever a hand is raised. we might even become agresive and bite for a seemingly insignificant infraction.
So tatoo's ,hair, motorcycles, shaven or not are not deal breakers to me. people express frustration / anger and joy differently.
I too agree this is an 'thinking' thread ... one for OURSELVES ... and one for OTHERS as well ...:thinking::scratchhead:
What will be the 'basis' of judgment for us all ...:confused:

Howdy peeps!
Thanks for the thread, and thought provoking thoughts, VR and others.
In my thinking, the basis for judgement, will be what it has always been.....our motive.
Cheers mates! :hug::grouphug::friends:
