Let your reasonableness become known to all men.--Phil. 4:5

The emphasis today is on the word 'reasonable'. It is defined by
''not being excessive but fair.'' It is to be within the ''bounds of common sense and sound thinking.'' :rose:

My favorite description of 'reasonableness' that I found in my research is this: :rose:

''Reasonable people with good intentions can still disagree over matters of substance.'' What makes it reasonable or not is the manner in which they agree/disagree. It isn't 'reasonable' to bull your way through arguments and persist when you realize there are those who don't recognize your 'rightness'' and because you feel 'right' doesn't mean it is reasonable to keep at them--in fact it is unreasonable. :rose: and sometimes in order to be 'reasonable' it is a kindness and loving act to 'let it go.'

Reasonableness is also described as ''yieldingness'. (Kingdom Interlinear). According to this referrence it is ''the willingness to yield one's personal rights and to show consideration and gentleness to others''--hence 'yielding' --and 'reasonable' --over all it has to do with the ways of love--the most important quality of all yet made up of many individual qualities---:heartbeat: :rose:

''Live in the right way, serve God,
have faith, love, patience, and gentleness.''
1 Tim. 6:11 :rose:

''All of you should be very humble with each other.
God is against the proud but he gives grace to the humble.
Be humble under God's powerful hand so he will
lift you up when the right time comes.''
1 Peter 5: 5-6 :rose:

and my favorite for today :heartbeat: :rose:

''Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us
everything we need to live and to serve God. We have
these things because we know him. Jesus called us
by his glory and goodness. Through these he gave us
the very good and precious promises. With these gifts
you can share in being like God and the world will not
ruin you.'' 2 Peter 1: 3-4 :rose:

''When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride
be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor
to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested
only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.
In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus.''
Philippians 2: 3-5... :rose:

The scriptures in chapter 4 of Philippians connect the quality of reasonableness with the quality and condition of peace--God's peace--

''Always rejoice in the Lord. Once more I say 'rejoice'!. :rose:
Let your reasonableness become known to all men. The
Lord is near.
Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving
let your petitions be made known to God.
and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your
hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.''
Philippians 4: 4-7.... :rose:

be reasonable--maintain your own peace and don't disturb the peace of others--sounds very reasonable to me  :rose:

have a terrific thursday friends--I love Thursday :heartbeat: (and you guys too :grouphug:) :heartbeat: :rose:

:giverose: "apples of gold in silver carvings." (imho) :giverose:

also, ... far exceeds the "reasonable person" standard so often invoked in english and american jurisprudence.
