The word of God is alive and exerts power.--Heb. 4:12 :rose:

And don't we Know it--and appreciate it

Some further thoughts on the power and also the benefits of the Scriptures.... :rose:

''God's word is alive and working :rose:
and is sharper than a double-edged sword.
It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and
the spirit are joined, to the center of our joints and bones.
And it judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.''
Hebrews 4:12 (Holy Bible--New Century Version) :rose:

''The truly happy people are those who :rose:
carefully study God's perfect law that makes people free,
and they continue to study it. They do not forget
what they heard, but they obey what God's teaching says.
Those who do this will be made happy.''
James 1:25 :rose:

''As newborn babies want milk, :rose:
you should want the pure and simple teaching.
By it you can grow up and be saved, because you have
already examined and seen how good the Lord is.'' 1 Peter 2:2 :rose:

''Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and
night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only
then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.''
Joshua 1:8 :rose: :rose: :rose:

''The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair. They are more
desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than
honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning
to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.''
Psalm 19: 9-11 ... :rose:

''Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions''
Psalms 119:24 (I just LOVE this scripture) :heartbeat: :rose:

''Your laws please me; they give me wise advice.'' Psalm 119: 24 :rose:

''I meditate on your age-old regulations; O LORD, they comfort me.'' Psalm 119:105 :rose: :rose:

''Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us.
And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait
patiently for God's promises to be fulfilled.'' Romans 15:4 :rose:

 I soooo agree, wolfie! It's never been more alive to me nor exerted more power - we should express our unending thanks to God for every syllable!
There was a time when it seemed the Bible was not written to me... just a bunch of words from ancient long-dead men... difficult to decipher and hard to understand. But it opened up anew when my eyes opened to the fact that it was indeed God's living word and the instructions therein miraculously relevant for the past, present and future.
I'm constantly in the state of awe at how intricately God's wisdom is woven throughout. Some will say that there are faults, mistranslations and so on, making the entire Book suspect. But I say there is more than enough in what we have to prove that God's most important instructions for our lives today are viable - virtually alive with His power. Most importantly, the recorded words of THE Word of God, the Son himself! What poor souls we would be, indeed, if we'd never read those precious words of Christ Jesus - I shudder to think.

I could go on and on about this subject, but will stop here.;)

Love to you, dearest sis:love:, and to all:grouphug:
:peace:

hey willatree :heartbeat:

you have reminded me of a long ago memory. I was about 6 or 7 in Sunday School and the teacher was reading Bible stories. She read about Shadrach, Mechack and Abednego on this particular day and I got so sad thinking about people around me and how they didn't seem to love God anymore with this kind of love. I was afraid all faith in God was gone as I couldn't see it as I saw the people in the Bible. I cried for God thinking he must be hurt and sad too--the Bible Is so powerful--even to little kids who I find are fascinated with Bible stories and have many many questions. I was talking with my 5 year old grandson the other day and he wants to know God's last name--got an answer?

Yes--there is real power there--power to change your heart and then your life --thank you willa for your rich thoughts always :cheekkiss:
For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart. and there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but (and) all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting. Seeing, therefore, that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold onto [our] confessing of [him]. NWT
Try again.........

For the Word of God is alive.

Literally.....Living, for the Word of the God and energetic, and sharper than any two edged sword.

The Word of God in this text is not the Bible it is Jesus and he is living.

The two edged sword that comes from his mouth is sharper than any two edged sword. (In greek two edged is literally two mouthed)

Yes the scriptures, the Bible, lead us to the Word, but that Word is Jesus.

Well when we get those contexts going then a rethink is great.

Love vicky
thank you Vicky--and yes indeed you are right--it is always good/great to rethink the patterns of thought we automatically go to--awesome! :friends:

Love you wolfie. open heart = open mind :heartbeat:
I tried to emphasise in the Greek that it keeps saying ...AND.
It is a continuation of all he is. Though the NWT says BUT, even then the Greek word used is AND (kai).
In other words he is this And this, And this, etc., ad infinitum.

well then Vicky :friends: a thank you to seraphim also
it is always wonderful to delve just a little bit deeper :heartbeat:
