Dear Sis Llee,:giverose:

I appreciate your response and am pleased that you are not keeping on the watch, Watchtower style.:cheer:

Of course, being wise is a good tactic, which I think would be a fair view of your post. Being wise and helping each other is being a Christian. If being a wise Christian is your version of keeping on the watch, I'm all in!

Some people jsut get overboard on having to 'KNOW' everything and then end up in trouble. It makes me very sad.

Have a nice night, sister. I need some rest.

Love and prayers to you and yours, Debbie
Judicious use of the internet is worthwhile. It is a source of information and connection, as long as the military continues to allow it.
If it continues it is an upgrade to the fantastic advances made by the printing press, which is an upgrade to scribes writing manuscripts.
Yet even in Solomon's day there was a plethora of books (manuscripts) to read, which could be 'wearisome'.
The WTBTS does not like this upgrade, as it makes them as a publishing company somewhat defunct, and gives us access to information that they prefer we did not have. We can even save the evidence on our hard-drives.
We have access via the internet to all their silly 'exclusive' books for elders, C.O.'s, Bethelites etc.
Not that I have spent a moment reading them even though I have them in pdf. It reminds me of boys in a playground making a secret gang with secret signs. Puerile!

So glean your informationn from wherever you want, but be judicious and do not let it be too time consuming.

Oh and sis LLee and Bangalore, we still need your research and librarian skills. The search engines are still not a scratch on you two.
Hi,

No I haven't been excluding myself from the media. I've been  sick with a cold. I came to the cafe to read but didn't last long enough to post! Feeling much better today! I am evaluating my time on the internet, & making choices about what to keep & what to stop.Thank you Spice Ant for the nudge!

I do take a break from the tv with the family several times a year. There is a "Turn Off TV Week" in the US, sort of like the" quit smoking " week more have heard of .We started participating , sometimes taking a whole month off, almost 20 years ago. I call a no TV week at other times, it helps us detox from any habitual watching and examine what we really want to do with our time or keep watching.

I quit watching news shows many years ago , I found they were as toxic to my perceptions as watching soap operas. We keep up with the news we are interested in following internet newsletters, some my husband reads , some I do, we compare notes. Many times I deleate without reading. We buy a local Sunday paper to see whats going on in our area, good news & bad.

I guess my idea of "keeping on the watch", is not the watching of news. It's watching myself and checking on if I'm ready to meet my maker. I am leaning towards the belief the signs were for the early christians to be on the watch for the coming end of the Jewish system of things. That when Jesus returns HE will be seen by all and we won't need tv to let us know of his arrival. There is a verse in Amos , can't remember which, very popular were I live & painted on many barn doors, "Are you ready to meet your maker?". I don't just ask myself that concerning a second coming , but with the greater probabilty I will die by sickness, accident or old age first. If by accident or getting the word from my DR. little time is left, I do want to be ready. I wouldn't want to meet my maker without a clean concience.Certanly not to spend my last days cleaning up a mess not to leave behind. I am trying to be a person quick to appologize & fast to repent. This goes against my nature of stewing on things and dragging my feet. Now you know what my biggest struggle is . A woman's memory is her curse!

Back when Jesus was about to be presented to the world, the whole of Israel was looking for him and "on the watch" for him (the messiah). There still were only a few that recognized him.

Many are looking to the earth
The the sign of the (2nd) coming is like a thunder in heaven.
We fight not against flesh and blood, but (...) against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12
As above, so below

amen
so it has been a couple of months now
how many experiences have arisen that relate to the difference between the presence and absence of the media in ones daily life?
