All the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction.--Rom. 15:4 :rose::rose::rose:

''For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the scriptures we might have hope.'' (Rom. 15:4) :rose:

Some corresponding scriptures:

''That it ''was counted to him'' was written, however, not for his sake only but also for the sake of us to whom it is destined to be counted, because we believe on him who raised Jesus our Lord up from the dead.'' Rom. 4:23,24 :rose:

''For in the law of Moses it is written: ''You must not muzzle a bull when it is threshing out the grain. Is it bulls God is caring for? :rose:

Or is it altogether for our sakes he says it? Really for our sakes it was written, because the man who plows ought to plow in hope and the man who threshes ought to do so in hope of being a partaker.''
I Cor. 9:9,10 :rose:

''Now these things went on befalling them as examples, and they were written for a warning to us upon whom the ends of the system of things have arrived.'' 1 Cor. 10: 11 :rose:

''All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of GOd may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.'' 2 Tim. 3: 16,17 :rose: :rose:

I could go on and on about the value of the scriptures and the depth of them--what you see is not hardly ever all there is to it. Returning to today's verse the emphasis is that the scriptures were written for instruction but also to to help us endure and through that endurance and comfort we might have hope. I believe it is to help us cultivate the patience that Christ had and to have the consolation that sustained him. :rose: :rose:

''Hence brace up your minds for activity, keep your senses completely; set your hope upon the grace and kindness that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.'' 1 Peter 1: 13 ..sounds good to me :heartbeat: :rose:

all additional thoughts and scriptures very welcome and totally appreciated :heartbeat: :rose:

good night friends--love you all :heartbeat::grouphug:

thank you, dear sis wolfie. :giverose:

i really hate to say it, but with so much spiritual toxicity being pandered about on our discussion board of late, your text posts -- and those of willa, too -- are like much-needed oases of rest, refreshment, and comfort from some of the 'fiery missiles' flying about.

just please always know how much you are loved and appreciated.
