:heartbeat:Hello friends - a wonderful Friday to you all! Today we have a lovely bit of Scripture to ponder - Mark 10:21 ---

Mark 10
The Rich Young Ruler
17 As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
18 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.
19 "You know the commandments, 'DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, Do not defraud, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'"

20 And he said to Him, "Teacher, I have kept all these things from my youth up."

21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him and said to him, "One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

22 But at these words he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property.
23 And Jesus, looking around, said to His disciples, "How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!"

There can never be too much emphasis on keeping our "eye simple". This world is supported by the selfish need to make and spend lots of money. But, as sis wolfie's Tuesday text pointed out so well, riches can be a trap and ensnare even the the most good-intentioned Christian to work more, make more, spend more and be more in this failing world. We do well to keep our minds and hearts on the true treasure saved-up for us in the heavens, putting the Kingdom first in all ways, and emphasizing the great love with which Jesus taught all of his lessons ---

24 The disciples were amazed at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
25 "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
26 They were even more astonished and said to Him, "Then who can be saved?"
27 Looking at them, Jesus said, "With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."
28 Peter began to say to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You."
29 Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel's sake,
30 but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.

Matthew 6
20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

1 Timothy 6
17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

:heartbeat:Much love from
Your sister in Christ,

Hi Willa--and everyone :heartbeat:

What I LOVE about this scripture is the tenderness involving our Lord.

''Jesus looked upon him and felt love for him.''

He brought that love to everyone and treated them accordingly. This is the kind of love that changes every fiber of your being --and affects those with whom you are with-- When you are aware that you love someone you have great sympathy and compassion and understanding. We know it flowed from him to where strangers reached out just to touch him and be made whole. They could see it and feel it. Importantly, we too are to cultivate this love for others in imitation:

''I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other just as I
have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one
another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.'' John 13: 34-35 .....

Thank you so much willa girlfriend :heartbeat: I so enjoy your thoughts and scriptural choices on Your day :heartbeat: :cheekkiss:
:heartbeat:Thank you dear wolfie, for the additional thoughts.:friends: Yes, Jesus embodies true love. It's no wonder that he's drawn billions of people to his Father - he is the finest example of the purest form of Godly love! We can feel it - and we can't even see or touch him - but he touches us.

My all-time favorite quote of his words:
"I want to."

There is no greater love...
