I visited the Convention in San Diego, Ca. today, Sunday. It is suppose to be the 1st in the International Summer Conventions.

Highlights- 42,159 in attendance.
Spanish and English programs ran simultaneously on opposite sides of the Stadium.
40+ countries represented by delegates, all in their native dress, ver colorful.
New Publications- The Wonders of Creation DVD in multiple languages.
Booklet- Bearing thorough Witness About God's Kingdom.
Tract- The Bible What Is Its Message
New Song book announced, music from the new song book played throughout the day, much better arrangements and melodies and some were vocals.

Theme was- Keep on the Watch, WATCH was highlighted, I get it Wt. WATCH.

Drama on the Prodigal Son.

Morning program was on the Last Days and 1914. 1914 was mentioned alot. Then experiences from the International delegates.
Afternoon program was on the Witnesses being the only true religious organization. Interesting retelling of the history from CT Russell's time.
They always get that one backwards.

Brother Morrison from the GB gave the closing prayer and talked about df'd ones coming back and that elders should be kind to them.

The real fun then began. The friends began to spontaneously do the Wave. Round and round it went 10, 15, 20 times with wooops and hollers. Then the hankies came out from the Spanish side and they waved them over head and the English side waved back.

I think the friends could have enjoyed the day if that is all they did.
Make new friends, wave and greet, enjoy the colorful clothes and hear experiences from around the world. The doom and gloom wasn't what got the crowd on its feet.

Hey!
I was there too! :cheer::cheer: I only went for the last day... today !!
I left as soon as the prayer was over and as I was walking down the ramp I heard the commotion and wondered what all the whooping and hollering was all about. Now I know!

It was kind of cool to see the Latin American jw's dressed in their outfits, the mexicans especially. I never saw so many Mexican "charros"!! I thought for a second I was at a mariachi convention! ;)
And your right everybody enjoyed seeing the clothes and were taking lots of pictures. I think the brothers and sisters had it right ... after all ... Paul said the purpose of gathering together was to "incite to love and good works."

Hi Luci-g,

Sorry I missed. Hope we can get together soon.

I hope sooner also. We are up in North County, we'll plan a dinner or BBQ at our place this summer.
