There is an upcoming talk entitled how a christian excercizes authority, with no source material.

One of our brothers :-D I won't name any names, has this talk, he's thinking of using research by frank viola with some select sentences from in search of christian freedom.

Has anyone here seen any good research/resources on this subject matter.
Give us a bit more information if you can, and I will do research.

Exercises authority over whom, themselves or others?

The early Christians even had authority over the demons.
I think Christian authority, is authority over ourselves. It is also authority over outside evil influences.

Religious authority is to try to control others, like a blind man trying to lead his guide dog.

Jesus was followed because he led by example. He was not authoritarian.
If my bunged up sewage pipes needed rodding, he would not tell me how to do it, he would show me himself.

Never ask of others what you would not go to the endth degree to do yourself.

The Corinthian congregation exercised authority by not talking to a certain person, but each individual knew the deed and each made their own decision. Each individual therefore exercised their own authority in harmony with Jehovah's righteous laws.

Thrashing in the dark here, need more info.

Well the whole talk will be based around the nations lord it over not so among you greatest must be servant etc. And will use the post here by willa on frank violas "the lord jesus christ and authority" it will also shortly overview the scriptures talking about the body of christ.

Hi SOJ,

I read about Frank Viola several years ago. He rejected the top-down structure of his own church and opted for autonomous house groups instead. You should find information on his ideas easily with a search engine.

There is a brother on the Channel C forum called Gordon Coulson who has done a lot of work in this regard and has written an instruction manual to help set them up and keep them running well. I’m pretty sure I can locate it on the net if you like.

Regards,
Brendan.
