The things I was fond of were with the sons of men.--Prov. 8:31

Hi everyone :heartbeat: thank you so much for your well wishes. :cheekkiss: I am feeling a bit better but still a ways to go...you know how that goes I am sure. :heartbeat: :rose:

The Beautiful 8th chapter of Proverbs is a description of wisdom personified. It even offers insight into the creation of the earth. It is one of the most beloved readings in the Bible and means different things to different people. All are encouraged to share their thoughts on Chapter 8 and incorporating Jesus Christ if one so desires.... :rose:

a section of chapter 8 :rose:

''Jehovah himself produced me as the beginning of his way,
the earliest of his achievements of long ago. (22) :rose:

From time indefinite I was installed, from the start, from times
earlier than the earth. (23) :rose:

When there were no watery deeps I was bought forth as with
labor pains, when there were no springs heavily charged with water.
(24) :rose:

Before the mountains themselves had been settled down, ahead of the hills, I was brought forth as with labor pains, (25) :rose:

when as yet he had not made the earth and the open spaces and the
first part of the dust masses of the productive land. (26) :rose:

When he prepared the heavens I was there, when he decreed a
circle upon the face of the watery deep, (27) :rose:

when he made firm the cloud masses above, when he caused the foundations of the watery deep to be strong, (28) :rose:

when he set for the sea his decree that the waters themselves should not pass beyond his order, when he decreed the foundations of the earth, (29) :rose: :rose:

then I came to be beside him as a master worker, and I came to
I came to be the one he was specially fond of day by day, I being glad before him all the time, (30) :rose:

being glad at the productive land of his earth, and the things I was fond of were with the sons of men.'' (31) ... :rose:

this reading and these words never fail to move me to tears. It is truly awe-inspiring and reads like graceful beautiful poetry--and love--you can feel the love....all extra thoughts appreciated and enhance the daily text. :heartbeat:

The point of Proverbs is described in the first two verses:

''for one to know wisdom and discipline, to discern the sayings of understanding, to receive the discipline that gives insight, righteousness and judgement and uprightness, to give to the inexperienced ones shrewdness, to a young man knowledge and thinking ability. Proverbs 1:2-4..:heartbeat::rose:

Surely we are so blessed to have these words recorded and at our fingertips and surely we are all the better for spending a few minutes with them :heartbeat: ....have a wonderful saturday evening friends..love you all :grouphug:

thank you, wolfie, for pulling yourself up out of a sick bed to post a new text for us to consider. :giverose:

in the past, i have posted a few threads pertaining to genesis 1:1 ("in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth"), and john 1:1 ("in the beginning was the word"). i think many students of the bible are under the impression that these verses are talking about the same "beginning." i would argue otherwise.

genesis 1:1 is merely describing the beginning of physical creation. most would readily concede that angels, for example, were already in existence by the time genesis 1:1 rolled around.

john 1:1, on the other hand, is telling us of the situation before genesis 1:1; THE beginning. the beginning of what? the beginning of the circumstance when the creator was no longer the sole entity in existence. he decided to share the joy of existence with a firstborn son, the only one begotten directly by god himself. this is the one described as a "master worker" alongside god here in proverbs, chapter eight.

and, yes, wolfie, these words and these thoughts quite readily move me to tears, also.

much love to our wolfster :D and to all  iso...
