Hi Jesh

We've both been around a while on this board (and also on e-watchman I think, until the Great Cleanout over there), so I hope you don't leave, but I also hope you'll also consider my thoughts here.

To me, the first lie told to Adam and Eve was fairly simple... basically, it was that they won't die.

Yes, eat from the tree of knowledge [gnosis], 'cos you won't die. That big mean Demiurge is lying to you, holding back all that gnosis. Tsch.

OK, so they didn't physically die there and then, but they did go back to the dust. They didn't reincarnate, transmigrate, transmogrifigate or anything fancy like that.

They went back to the dust. They died. Kaput. (If you've ever seen the Dead Parrot sketch, you'll know what I mean!)

The fact is, your Lord and mine said the Devil has been lying from the beginning, but you know what? His ego (Satan's) couldn't stand to be seen as a liar, so along came...

Immortality of the soul
Reincarnation
Hidden mystery schools with secret knowledge...

... all to teach the true gnosis that we don't really die after all.

Yes, there is no doubt evidence for reincarnation, just as there is evidence for hauntings and possessions and stuff like that. Again, all to reinforce the "we don't die" line.

You'll notice this evidence usually comes channelled, or while a person is under hypnosis with the aid of a "spiritual healer". Seriously, don't you think it's also possible that the demons are simply implanting these ideas into people's minds? Heck, if movies can do that, or even a few words from a loved one put a thought into your mind, why can't powerful spirit beings? I'd imagine that would be child's play for them.

Do you believe every channelled message, from the dead aunt who is having a good time on "the other side" (while never telling us anything substantial about where they are), to Awaz (or whatever) that channeled the Book of The Law to Alestair Crowley, to the Raelians and their channeled messages from space?

Didn't a certain apostle advise us to test the inspired expressions?

Gnosticism is a lot more than "finding your inner Jehovah". It teaches that the Jehovah of the Bible is an evil Demiurge. Does that not sound inspired by Satan to you? How long before you are reading the works of Blavatsky as gospel?

The fact is, demons do have teachings. How are we to discern the teachings of demons from the teaching of God?

God says, "You will die..." (and thus the only escape from death is resurrection), Satan says, "No you won't!" (hey, you've got an immortal soul, reincarnated, you're gods!)

Isn't that a clear enough distinction?

And the scriptures that supposedly support reincarnation, well... if John the Baptist actually was Elijah, why does the angel declaring John's birth not tell us he also had Elijah's soul, not just spirit and power?

Even if we accept that John was, in fact, Elijah... that was clearly a special case, that in no way proves that we reincarnate.

I hope, Jesh, that in the course of time, you will come to truly accept the words of Jesus Christ that the Devil is a liar and the father of the lie, who has been sinning from the beginning.

He is the father of the lie, and not Jehovah.

Adam and Eve returned to the dust. Their offspring do the same, because they are made of the same stuff as their parents.

If they didn't, there would be no need of Christ's ransom sacrifice, because we wouldn't be in bondage to death - we'd just reincarnate to the next body.

Forgive me for being blunt with ya Jesh, but I fear you are falling for the Big Lie "hook, line and sinker".

I know you don't feel that way at present, but I hope you will one day, and hopefully soon :D

 ...and how wonderfully articulate your posts are Interpretum as well as balanced and reasoning--gem of the week? oh ya.....

2 Cor 10:4
The weapons with which we do battle are not those of human nature, but they have the power,in God's cause, to demolish fortresses. It is ideas that we demolish, 5 every presumptuous notion that is set up against the knowledge of God, and we bring every thought into captivity and obedience to Christ;:read: JB

It's called, examining the scriptures!:) Acts 17:2,3 and Acts 17:11,12

Agape to all,
