Its always a double message-

Sell it all and move to where the need is great because amageddon is next week (although we won't support you) and buy and build for the church for decades to come.

No wonder these poor people are so comfused.

This makes me sick.

The group is respected among real estate dealers for its business acumen, not its charitable works. Shame they don't provide shelter for the homeless.

The excellent condition in which it maintains its properties.....by voluntary workers.

A history of keeping its cards very close to its chest....even in the business world; more so with the witnesses.

They have sold property for nearly $288,000,000, but still they prey on little old ladies dropping their widows mite at the kingdom halls. I know one impoverished couple that saves up every week to do that.

Many people claim that the Watchtower Society is a business disguised as a religion. A book publishing and real estate corporation registered as a religion.

What really gets me is that the WT doesn't even provide a retirement home for its elderly. What happens to those who gave up having a family and spent their lives working as CO's, DO's or missionaries. When they get old and sickly where do?

:barf:They really are quite disgusting, aren't they? I remember once, when we were on holiday in America with a lawyer friend of my husband, whilst I was eating and talking to his wife, I overheard my husband mention that I was a JW. What did I hear from the lawyer friend? ' They are one of the richest organizations in the world. They have billions in assets etc etc' and he was quite bewildered to think that I would succumb to all that  My reaction? What does he, know, poor, misguided worldling! I feel only shame that I wasn't even slightly aware at the time that anything was amiss (at least in that area of my worship! ):dollar::dollar::dollar::bigboss: This was only in 20001 so not that far off, really!:taphead: If JW's don't see it, let's all remember how we were before we were let loose! In total bondage, brothers!:readthis::barf: The blind leading the blind.:read:

They have to let the state take care of them, and many end up in state run nursing homes. Some are lucky enough that a "non-JW" family member will take them in and care for them, but many are not.

The other thing that really gets me is how JW's don't like to help take care of their "non-JW" parents. My wife and I take care of her mother, who has had numerous strokes. My wife's brothers, who are both JW elders, do very little for their non-JW mother. For over 10 years they might have spent 40 hours a year, if they were lucky, visiting her, or doing something with her. One lives about 200 yards down the road, the other about a 1/4 mile away. We finally started calling them to take her to some of her doctor appointments and now one of them takes her to lunch a couple times a month, the the other one takes her to dinner maybe 2 or 3 times a year!

Now the thing that really ticks me off is that one of them has a mother in law who is a JW, and he and his wife does all kinds of things with her! It's like the only "real" family are JW's, if your not a JW, or like my wife and I who left, your not "really" part of the family.

Take care.

Hi Luci-g!
For years they have encouraged local congregations to add CO apartments to their halls. When they discontinue the CO position, the apartments will be used by old Bethelites, at the congregations expense of course.

What have they added to the town of Paterson, NY.?
More traffic, more utilities, no new jobs and no property tax!
They ruined that little town.

Sheepdog,
I really feel for you. That's terrible, and only goes to show unchristian and unloving many of them really are. Very sad!:(
Agape,
Grateful:giverose:
