Greetings all!

This thread is for folks here to post whether or not they wish to attend our online memorial.

It would be most helpful if you plan to attend to let us know what time-zone you live in so that we can arrange the timing to accommodate as many as possible.

In past years we've held two, approximately 5 hours apart, based on who was going to be there. We also held it on a second date last year, a month later, due to the general confusion as to when it should be celebrated. The timing of the barley harvest was rightly considered in calculating the date. We are asking for help in determining this for 2009.

I realize that there is already a discussion going on regarding the memorial but this thread is specific to the actual arrangements for attendees. It is not for a discussion of anyone's theology on the matter. Most of us at the cafe celebrate the Lord's evening meal at this time of the year and many enjoy additional occasions to remember what our lord Jesus did for us.

If you wish to join us on this special date please post your wishes here.

Love,

Rez :siskiss:
Thank you so much for this information. I live in Ohio so I am on Eastern Daylight Savings Time. It is my hope that I will be able to attend the Memorial at my local congregation but just in case I am not able to go I will be attending your online Memorial. Again, thank you. Have a wonderful and blessed day.
Agape,
Sister LoveJehovah
Well peeps, with three threads on the memorial, plus PMs, we've accumulated an abundance of information. It doesn't appear to be unanimous by any means but we've decided to go with Wednesday, April 8th. We'll be holding two events to accommodate a variety of time zones. The first will be held at 6PM Eastern and the second at 11PM Eastern. And if there are some who need to celebrate the memorial a month later -- that can be arranged too.

We realize that the WT will be holding theirs on the 9th and perhaps having ours' online on the day before will allow some folks here whose families are going to the KH to join us without conflict, although that is not the reason that we chose to celebrate on the 8th. We had, in fact, originally decided on the 9th. Ah...research! It's not always as clearcut as we could wish.

I'm posting this info on all three threads to avoid having anyone fall through the cracks:grouphug:

Love, Rez:siskiss:
Here is where to find instructions to get into the Hot Conference room for the online memorial. Please follow these as soon as possible to avoid problems. We will try to help if you have trouble.

Down the Vía Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary
He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death
Down the Vía Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.
Down the Vía Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Vía Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

it's so good to hear from you, martin (and frances),

i have often wondered how things were for you in life. it is truly a long and winding road that we walk, isn't it?

Dear bro Isomam,

Thank you for your kind words. :) :friends: It touched our hearts.

We're doing good. The majority of our time is to take care for our family, but I will do my best to leave a message here once in a while.

We often look back to our first years online. You and many of our friends here contributed to our spiritual journey. We say to you all: Thank you, from the bottom of our heart.

Philia from the Netherlands,
Openheart & Loving Truth (Frances & Martin)

So wonderful to see you here Martin and Frances.

La Via Dolorosa clip really affected me.

I find that satan has a nasty 'psychopathic sense of humour'.

Unlike the WT, I think there may well have been a cross-piece on the tree that Jesus was hung on.
Jesus was a carpenter until he was 30. He was lovingly fashioning wood to help people with their labours, making yokes that wouldn't chafe or burden them.
Satan would take this skill and use it against him. Notched and chamfered wood, was what he had to carry to Golgotha. The carpenter's trade turned nasty.
As a carpenter he would have many times cut down trees and lugged them to his workshop to create something beautiful and helpful; now he was having to carry a fashioned piece of wood to be his instrument of torture.

------------------------------

Tradition tells us that Jesus' brother James, (he of Acts 15) was thrown off the ramparts of the temple and then stoned to death.
Satan didn't get to destroy Jesus this way, but carried over and exacted his warped minds desire on Jesus' brother.

Matt. 4:5 The devil then took him (Jesus) to the holy city and set him on the parapet of the Temple. 6 'If you are Son of God,' he said, 'throw yourself down; for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, and they will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.' New Jerusalem Bible.

I suspect as we read the Bible and particularly Revelation, this vengeful attitude of satan will become apparent again and again.
This is also why we should never be vengeful.
Leave recompense to Jehovah

Love you two Nederlandse mensen, just over that bit of water,
