I don't imagine you're as old as I am, but there was a cartoon show when I was young called 'Beanie and Cecil' - a kid with a 'beanie' like your smiley, and a dinosaur named 'Cecil'(and another 'girl' dinosaur named, get this, 'Dina Saur' who sang like Dina Shore...lol - OK it was a long time ago!)
