The world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.--1 John 2:17 .... :rose: :rose:

written by John, the beloved apostle of Jesus Christ we find that LOve is the dominating theme of his writings. Some of his highlights this morning  :rose:

''Walking in light, not in darkness'' :rose:

''that which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have viewed attentively and our hands felt, concerning the word of life, (1) :rose:

(yes, the life was made manifest, and we have seen and are bearing witness and reporting to YOU the ever-lasting life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us.) (2) ...what an awesome scripture :heartbeat: :rose:

that which we have seen and heard we are reporting also to YOU, that you too my be having a sharing with us. Furthermore, this sharing of ours is with the Father and with his son Jesus Christ. (3) :rose:

And so we are writing these things that our joy may be in full measure.'' (4) ... :rose: :rose:

a part of this ''joy in full measure'' is in his strong councel to walk in the light and as today's text and surrounding scriptures mentions ''do not be loving the world.'' :rose: :rose:

''Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone
loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world--the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one's means of life--does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.'' 1 John 2:15-17 ... :heartbeat: :rose: :rose:

Interesting to me is the description in verse 16 of what the ''things of the world'' are .... :rose:

1...''desire of the flesh'' unhealthy lust..... :rose:

2....''desire of the eyes'' ...the need for more and more material things :rose: :rose:

3....''showy display of one's means of life.'' to me this is pride and wanting grandeur that goes with love of being honored and personal applause.... :heartbeat: :rose: :rose::rose:

finally  it is brought out that it is Love --love of God and Faith....that conquors the world.... :rose: :rose:

''By this we gain the knowledge that we are loving the children of God, when we are loving God and doing his commandments; :rose:
For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments are not burdensome, because everything that has been borne from God conquors the world. And this is the conquest that has conquored the world, our faith.'' 1 John 5: 2-4 .....:rose:
