Hi Everyone!! :hibye:
I was thinking recently about the economic crisis and possible world wide recession/depression, and I think it's certain we are going to be in for a rough ride.
And I came across a passage that give some exhortation.
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.
(Habakkuk 3:17-19 TNIV)
Even if we loose everything, we can still rejoice and be glad in the our God! We are saved by the Blood of the Lamb, and that should give us more joy and hope then all the material things combined! It tells us that the Lord loves us, and wants the best for us. When so many people have lost their hope because they have lost everything, we who are God's children will never loose hope in our Savior. HALLELUJAH!
I was also thinking of the idea of being content with what we have....
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
(Philippians 4:11-12 TNIV)
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

This is something I'm learning. I just rent a small two bedroom apartment. It doesn't even have a living room. Just two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. A brother in the Lord and I each have a room and are splitting the rent. For $237 a month each, ($475 total), we have been blessed! It's not a mansion. It's not the most gorgeous place. But it's my home, and I like it. I am content.
Anyway, just some thoughts I wanted to share.
