"Religion is the process of man trying to achieve goodness, perfection, and acceptance with God by his own efforts. Christianity, on the other hand, is God taking the initiative and reaching for man." - (Hal Lindsey)
This is so true. God sees everything we do, and he knows the secret person of our true heart. He reaches out his arm to those who know that no matter how many works we can do for God, we still remain pitiful, poor and naked, and we cannot attain knowledge from other sources.
We must admit that we cannot do anything outside ourselves, but learn to imitate our Father and his perfect fruitages, like a child imitating his daddy , striving to please him by being the child our daddy wants us to be. Fearing to hurt our Father, and to make him feel sad at heart, is becoming childlike. He can give us the eyes to see clearly, and teach us personally like a human daddy does. A child does not go to various teachers, and strangers to learn what their daddy wants them to learn, same with our heavenly Father, he wants to be the one raising his sons and daughters and be taught his ways. he gets jealous and grieved when we look elsewhere for truth, than from his hidden counsels from above. When we become proud, we lose his favor, and saying we can know the truth from outside sources, is prideful to God. Pride comes before a fall..and thats why the scripture tells us to beware of this. See with God's eyes.

Faithful

i know of a gentleman, -- a brother in christ, actually, -- who walked away from a multi-million dollar televangelizing enterprise. he was an intimate friend of oral roberts and billy graham, among others. why did he 'walk away'? because, as he said, 'we have it all wrong. we should be preaching the grace of god; not the threats of judgment.' one of the sayings for which he has become somewhat well-known is ...
'christ jesus didn't come to start a new religion. he came to do away with religion.'
needless to say, he is singing my song.
if i've said it once, i've said it a thousand times ...
religion is the number one tool of satan the devil.

Dear New Heart:love:,
I really admire how much you meditate on our Creator and Jesus.:heartbeat:
Some of us are truly 'pathetic' always wanting more from our Father! And I say it with a smiling, laughing spirit. Some of us here have nothing else that we want to think about more. I hope you don't get mad at me for revealing this, you have more family than I do! You probably are so much like me, tending to the family and home with my head up in the clouds asking for spiritual guidance for every step and thought:hug:.
I feel help in so many ways, and yet, I want 'more' of the 'feeling', above all I want the 'peace'. I have so much more 'peace' than worries even though I have a heavy load. There is nothing more wonderful than feeling holy spirit lifting the burdens to the point where I can smile through some of them!
Thank you for all your prayers, and love and prayers to everyone out there:heartbeat:.
With Sisterly Love, Debbie

guilty as charged, sis anchor.
since this old thing (thread) hasn't been circulated for nearly two years, i thought i'd bring it back up to the top for newer ones on the board and to (hopefully) complement brother truthseeker's new thread on the subject.
