See, your son is alive.--1 Kings 17:23 ... :rose:
What sweet comfort in the reality and hope of the resurrection. The Bible offers several such accounts of resurrections already having taken place. Reading them and meditating on them makes them only more real.--- :rose::rose:
''For all the things written aforetime were written for our
instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort
from the Scriptures we might have hope.'' Romans 15:4 :rose:
In this day's text the first resurrection recorded in the Bible had taken place. The prophet Elijah has been a guest of the widow Zarephath. He suddenly became ill and stopped breathing. This was the widow's only child and she was beyond devastated. She was so grief-stricken she even blamed Elijah and God. Elijah prayed repeatedly for the child's life to be returned and then in verse 23 we have the simple words that meant Everything --''see, your son lives.'' Imagine her faith after that point and time in her life .... :rose: :rose:
and so we have faith also even tho we haven't seen a resurrection--yet. It has been something hard for people over the centuries to envision. It is something fought over in the first congregations as recorded for us in I Cor. 15: 12-19 .... :rose::rose:
''Now if Christ is being preached that he has been raised up from the dead how is it some among YOU say there is no resurrection of the dead? :rose: :rose:
If indeed, there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised up. :rose:
But if Christ has not been raised up, our preaching certainly has been in vain, and our faith is in vain. :rose:
Moreover, we are also found false witnesses of God, because we have
borne witness against God that he raised up the Christ, but whom he did not raise up if the dead are really not to be raised up.
For if the dead are not to be raised up, neithr has Christ been raised up. :rose:
Further, if Christ has not been raised up, YOUR faith is useless; you are yet in your sins. :rose:
In fact, also those who fell asleep (in death) in union with Christ perished. :rose: :rose:
If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied.'' ...powerful words supporting the resurrection for without it there is nothing else and reason for faith in the resurrection to be a hallmark of our Christianity: :rose:
''If you use your mouth to say:, ''Jesus is Lord,'' :rose:
and if you believe in your heart that God raised
Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.'' Romans 10:9 :rose:
Yet another reason for all knees to bow to Christ.... :rose::rose:
''Jesus said to her:''I am the resurrection and the life.
Those who believe in me will have life even if they die.
And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die at all.'':rose:
