We are coming down to the end of our weekly study of the gospel according to Luke.  It has been wonderful to reflect on the life and ministry of the Lord.   One thing that I have enjoyed is how deeply we have looked at some verses that I may have only given a casual glance at in the past.   In recent weeks it has been great to have new friends join us.

As we near the close of the book of we should start thinking about what book we would like to tackle next.

One of the things that has recently come to my attention is the how inseperatable Acts of the apostles is from Luke's gospel.   I'm told they even parallel each other in many respects.   For those reasons I think Acts would be a good canditate.

We have given consideration to James and Paul so it also might be good to round out with 1 Peter or 1 John.   As far as Paul's letters go I think Ephesians is good for its excellent presentation on the Body of Christ that we are a part of.

Personally I would like to reserve the Revelation for our "think-tank" discussions.   It seems better approached topically rather than verse by verse.   Plus the complexity of it means that we could probably spend two study sessions just looking at verse or two and even then not getting the whole story.

Other suggestions are of course welcome and appreciated!
I agree that Acts would be a good transition from Luke. I love the book of Acts and I would welcome to opportunity to discuss it with the rest of the friends.

My two lepta,

Savvy
Thanks for bringing that up Anthony.

I would love to study the book of Acts soon....to follow Luke. But do you think we could squeak Ephesians in first? It has only 6 chapters and contains some VERY important doctrinal points i.e. "other sheep" and "body of Christ" and is neglected by the WT perhaps for that very reason.

Acts has 28 chapters and will take several months to complete. I feel a considerable urgency to get the Bible's view of John 10:16 into discussion, since the WT doctrine of the other sheep is the basis for their "two-tier believers" teaching, which essentially divides the body of Christ.

I agree that Revelation would be better tackled at the "think tank" for the reasons you gave.

Hello all you beautiful people!

Well, Acts and Ephesians sound wonderful...

Personal preference is that we consider Ephesians first...I love the book and I feel that now is a good time to consider how all fit into the body of Christ. But I will of course follow along with majority...

Could someone fill me in on how we participate on this book study? I am in Europe and will need to know at exactly what time you all meet. Is it a verbal participation or just typing in our thoughts? Thanks in advance. Excuse my ignorance, friends!:(:dontknow:
Sister Grateful.:giverose:
Hello Grateful, my name is vicky. I too am in Europe, at the moment I am living in England.
The time for the meeting is rather late for us, though some English people join in, like myself and Seraphim. It is 10.30 to 11.30 at night (English time), this is to enable our American brothers to join in along with Sparrow from Hawaii and Beau from Australia.

Now I can send you the means to join paltalk, or you can just google the word paltalk and find the download.
When you get into paltalk I can send you more details if it is difficult for you to find your way around.
You might not be able to use your current user name, as so many use this system of communication. Let me know exactly your user name and I can keep an eye out for you.
When you find the room.....discussions101, under Christianity, under Theology, you will need the password which is

................. (sent by pm).

Most of us have microphones and talk. For some who are on dial-up, their speech is not so clear, or maybe they don't have mic's and have to resort to typing, though they hear well.
In general though we take turns in talking and enjoy hearing each other's voices expressing their thoughts about the Bible.

Much love vicky
Yes...the Saturday study has been a great blessing for me and I greatly encourage all who wish to, or are thinking about it, make the leap! Join in!

I believe a consideration of Ephesians would be awesome.

And drunk the milk...of Paradise"

Hey all!

I just downloaded PalTalk...went on for a few minutes, roamin' around, checkin' in on a few discussions...very cool.

but I could not find Discussions 101 under Christian Theology....is it only there when it is up and running on Saturday/Sunday?

I could use some help navigating the site, and knowing how to get around, and some advice on how to use it.

Completely new to me!

Thanks all for such a wonderful provision!

See you all there, hopefully this weekend- if I don't have to work! :(

Much love,
Sis Micah:neo:

So look for......... discussions101....... on Sat and Sun half an hour before 5.30 pm EST.
I will open the room now and let's see if you can find it, but if my name is there, I might not be there, just keeping the room open.

 There's two of us looking forward to it here in California -- what time does that work out to?

It works out to be about 2:30 pm on Pacific Time.

Hope to see you there,

Hi everyone, :hibye:

Is Paltalk similar to Skype?

They are similar in principal, but very different programs. You can text chat and speak with individual friends, but Paltalk stands out on it's own by having group chat rooms for various topics and interests. These rooms can be either public, or private with password protection.

The Discussion 101 room will be under the category of Religion and Theology, subcategory Christianity. It will be locked, and you can contact Man hu for the password.

About PalTalk:

One of the annoyances with PalTalk is having to suffer through the banner ads that appear at the bottom of the chat windows.   Sometimes they can be very noisy and distracting.

Here are the instructions on how to block them:

Remove Unwanted PalTalk Banner Ads

I will try to open the room up Saturday at 5:00pm (eastern) a half hour before start time..

We will be starting at Luke 23:13.

The format of the meeting is that we open with a prayer.

We will take a paragraph or two for reading.

After reading the paragraphs it is opened up for any questions and comments. It is open discussion and conversation.

After everyone has had the opportunity to share then we move on to the next section.

We don't have a set amount to study we just try to keep to an hour and when the hour is up then we close with a prayer.

It is alway a joy.  Look forward to seeing new faces.
