Wow, :readthis:
951 million in revenue..

You know, after Katrina hit...every witness I know sent a good amount of money to the WT... And then the WT told us, not to put where we wanted the money to go to, on the donation as they would put it to good use.. in the area that was needed..

 Alot of the money went to rebuild kingdom halls..
Hi newtruth! :hibye:

And if you notice this report was done in September 17, 2001 ... it is now 2008 ...

I wonder what the 'revenue' is NOW ...!!:rant:

When I think of all the brothers and sisters they could be helping with their 'surplus' ... to make an 'equalizing' so that ALL of our brothers and sisters could be helped not only 'spiritually' but 'materially' and 'physically' (various ways) it really makes me angry and and sad at the same time ...

Are they using their 'bounty' to HELP and AID their brothers in 'real' ways ...??

I know of MANY poor brothers and sisters who STRUGGLE TERRIBLY just to make ends meet ... and the 'meeting' doesn't 'meet' if you know what I mean ... and yet in spite of their desperation ... they STILL manage to find the 'money' to pay for ...

'volunteered' gas and upkeep on cars for service and meetings (and they should really be a four-door car to make it easy on the brothers for getting in and out for service)
contributions for 'kingdom work'
contributions for kingdom hall fund
contributions for paying for kingdom hall upkeep
contributions for paying for LOAN from society for the kingdom if they have mortgage (which I think most halls do)
contributions to pay for CO visits
contributions to help to pay for unexpected repairs and so on ...

And in these CONTRIBUTIONS ... of course we have to make a COMMITMENT of HOW MUCH we are going to spend MONTHLY on certain projects or funds ... and 'reminded' that once we make that commitment we have to 'let our yes mean yes' ...

And of my DECADES as a witness I have ALWAYS found that it is our POOR brothers and sisters that seem to donate the MOST ...

Be it money, time, materials, and so on ...

Even though we were told to do what we could ... there was always a 'suggested amount' ... and since our brothers as so used to striving to keep up to the 'average' ... it seems they do so in this regard as well ...

Anyway ... sorry for ranting  and raving  so much ...

But ... :quiet:

Luv as always to all ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
...don't forget that a portion of the KH funds now goes toward hospitalzation for the CO and his wife.

Mileage in the ministry can be deducted on tax returns as a "contribution." This year it was at the rate of 14 cents a mile...it might go up for 2008. I'm keeping a record of mileage myself. At the current cost I'm paying for gas - $3.86/gallon - I'm paying 15 cents a mile with a car that gives me about 26 miles to the gallon, so I'm getting a good return...
From the November 1, 2007 Watchtower.

The Mexico branch of Jehovah's Witnesses received the following letter from Manuel, an appreciative six year old who lives in Chiapas State. As he does not yet know how to write, a friend wrote for him. Manuel says ; 'My grandmother gave me a mother pig. When it had baby pigs, I picked out the nicest one and raised it with the help of the brothers. With much love I am sending as a donation what I received from selling the pig. It weighed 100 Kg, and I got 1250 pesos ($110, US) for it. Please use the money for Jehovah.'

'A 14 year old girl wrote to the Cameroon branch of Jehovah's Witnesses: 'After buying my school supplies for the year, I was able to sell two of last year's textbooks for 2500 francs ($5 US). I am contributing ($1.82 US ) from my savings. I would like to encourage you to continue the fine work you are doing. Thank you for the Watchtower and Awake! magazines. They make us think seriously.'

At the 2005 district conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses in Ukraine, the New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures in Ukrainian was released. The next day this message was found in a convention contribution box: 'I am nine years old. Thank you very much for the Greek Scriptures. Our mother gave my little brother and me this money to take the bus to school. But when it was not raining we walked to school and saved the 50 hryvnia ($10 US). My brother and I would like you to use this to translate the whole Bible into Ukrainian.'

Why would the Watchtower need money from people from the third world mentioned in these accounts considering the huge assets they already have?
