Hi Jeshurun,
I was surprised at the bold statement given out as a fact by the writer of the article. There was no claim that he was stating an opinion about Satan’s machinations in the case of Mithra, just the assertion that it he was, as a concrete fact.
These articles and videos on the similarities between the significant events in the lives of historical characters from Horus to Christ are a bit of a shock to any Christian’s faith.
Nonetheless, I think, despite the writer’s casual declaration of accurate knowledge of Satan’s activities that he might be on the right track. The scriptures are notoriously laconic about very important events that connect to make up God’s plan for our salvation. I believe that the first humans on earth were very well-informed about the details concerning the short statement we read at Genesis 3:15. Some suggest that these early humans interpreted the fault of their condition, and also the sacrificial methods that might appease God, and that God accepted these methods because they were workable, if not inspired.
I would rather think that these people like Cain and Abel knew exactly what went wrong and how restitution would come about. I think that Nimrod may well have been the first pretender to claim to be the promised seed, and that the whole concept of royalty developed from this role of the pretender Messiah. I don’t think anyone could ever prove that elements of the Seed’s life, death and resurrection were known so long ago, but if they were, it would make it more possible to understand how Mithra was another pretender to the position of the seed that would redeem mankind.
Brendan.
