Ran across this on jwd http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/151300/1.ashx

Highlights from a recent letter addressed to our BOE:

-- A married couple is leaving Bethel, assigned to serve in our congregation as special pioneers

-- The Society will pay them $600 per month, and in addition cover their health insurance

-- The elders are to begin looking for "low cost housing" and part-time jobs for them

-- The hour requirement for him is 130 hours per month, for her 120 per month

Should be interesting, they won't find anything to rent for less than $500 per month around here, unless some do-gooders who want extra brownie points open up their home for them.

Jobs are plentiful here, if you don't mind earning $8 per hour or less. I'm guessing that the couple have no real work skills, after (likely) 20-30 years at the big house.

I wonder what it feels like to be in your 40's or 50's, with maybe 20 years maximum to accumulate any Social Security benefits (current balance - $0)?

Some one did a little math and came up with 250 hours required / $600 amounts to
$2.40/hour. No wonder there have been so few voluteering to leave paradise after the call for 1000.
I'm waiting for the uprising from among the ranks. (And expecting one)
Br John, the history of religion doesn't seem to indicate such a scenario. The wt has too many bases covered along with the adherance to the mythological fds, claimed to be represented by the GB and their appointed enforcers, AKA elders. It's like the r&f are waiting for Valhalla. A handful might have insight and commit spiritual suicide like in 1980, or be victims of a bethel witch hunt. But an uprising, I don't think so. Tradition rules. And so does power. It would be like the cathaholic church admitting to it's past. Or as an old professor of mine once said about unlikely events, "It would be like the pope calling a press conference to announce his resignation from the papacy, in order that he would become the new president of Planned Parenthood." IE It ain't going to happen. :dontknow::redface:
Unfortunately, they will all be forced to leave, one way or another. :cry:With not the sightest interest shown in them, regarding their insecure future out there in the big world! It's hard for most of us, so let's have a thought for all those who never had to face dire moments regarding housing, food, rent, electricity bills, phone bill, car bills..............and on it goes! I feel very, very sad for them. May God help them! :cry:Especially the older ones!:(

I have read some pretty good argument pointing to the idea that the beast turning on the harlot could represent the enraged masses of mankind turning on their former rider (religion), at the very end of this age. Similar to Jezebel's own guards throwing her out of the window.

I don't know if I agree completely with this, but it makes sense and it would not surprise me. Although I'm sure it would surprise many.
