Romans 7:7...

"What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet:

but sin, finding occasion, wrought in me through the commandment all manner of coveting: for apart from the law sin is dead.

And I was alive apart from the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died;
and the commandment, which was unto life, this I found to be unto death:

for sin, finding occasion, through the commandment beguiled me, and through it slew me.

So that the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.

Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good; - that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

For that which I do I know not: for not what I would, that do I practise; but what I hate, that I do.

But if what I would not, that I do, I consent unto the law that it is good.
So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.
For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not.
For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practise.
But if what I would not, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.
I find then the law, that, to me who would do good, evil is present.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.
Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I of myself with the mind, indeed, serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."
Hello there draka ... :D:hibye:

Your post brought these Scriptures to mind ... :read:

Prov. 15:23 ...

(BBE) A man has joy in the answer of his mouth: and a word at the right time, how good it is!

(CEV) Giving the right answer at the right time makes everyone happy.

(GNB) What a joy it is to find just the right word for the right occasion!

Prov. 25:11 ...

(BBE) A word at the right time is like apples of gold in a network of silver.

(CEV) The right word at the right time is like precious gold set in silver.

(GNB) An idea well-expressed is like a design of gold, set in silver.

Just because we are 'sinners' because of human imperfection may we never use this an an 'excuse' or 'crutch' to continue to do something we know is wrong in the eyes of God ...

However, it is also comforting to know that our God recognizes our sinfulness and when we do try not to sin or sincerely repent and work hard not to ... He will lovingly forgive us when we pray for forgiveness

Thanks for a lovely comment ... :post: :rose:

Luv BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
Gogh,

That was great. It summed up the reason for the law in the first place. Seems to me the nation of Israel was more lost than we are today and had greater access.

That puzzles me.

We all have access to Christ now, he just doesn't write tablets into mountains. It's like we were all punished and shown the error of our ways--collectively.

The Mosiac Law should have shown people that we simply can't measure up to Jehovah's standards. Jesus message was more "No, you can't measure up, but be good to each other and I've taken care of the rest". Please Jesus don't get made because I paraphrased you.

That is pretty much what I've learned in the last few years.

We should be on our knees everyday thanking Jehovah and our Savior, who willingly took our sins for himself--so we could have LIFE. So we can feel love--not the romantic kind that's too easy. Real love that reaches across every boundry to reach out and say "I am here for you"--Just like Christ would.

I love you guys. Think I will thank Jehovah for you too.:heartbeat:

Quote:
5Thus said Jehovah: Cursed [is] the man who doth trust in man, And hath made flesh his arm, And from Jehovah whose heart turneth.

6And he hath been as a naked thing in a desert, And doth not see when good cometh, And hath inhabited parched places in a wilderness, A salt land, and not inhabited.

7Blessed [is] the man who trusteth in Jehovah, And whose confidence hath been Jehovah.

8And hath been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sendeth forth his roots, And he doth not see when heat cometh, And his leaf hath been green, And in a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor doth he cease from making fruit.

9Crooked [is] the heart above all things, And it [is] incurable -- who doth know it?

10I Jehovah do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each according to his way, According to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10 Young's Literal Translation, italics mine)

All Bible. "Sola scriptura."

Never forget Luke 13:24.

There's no such thing as a "default" Christian. Until you can acknowledge that, you will see every discussion on how to follow Christ as an affront to faith in Him.

But I ask you (and the others) to note:
I never once mentioned judging anyone in my spiel, nor did I mention how we are to deal with people who have sinned in any way against us; I'm talking about our own Christian living regarding ignorant sin. If you find yourself not even thinking of unintentional sins as actually being sin that you need to work with God on killing, perhaps you will consider changing how casual you are about "mistakes".

This is for edification, not a judgment session. I'm not the one with the responsibility of making you apply what you need to do: it's y'all. And I haven't sat down and considered if any of you need to do it or if I'm spouting Scripture to the choir.
But I felt that this very biblical idea met so much resistance that it should be brought up.

And if you can't accept that I haven't judged anyone, nor have I asked anyone to judge anyone other than yourselves, then there's nothing I more I can do than I already have: spoken the truth. And I've gone Scripture the whole way.
Please don't put words in my mouth, saying I'm judging and whatnot. My post had nothing to do with passing judgment.

Quote:
While I would agree that sin is sin -- it seems that knowledge of what is and isnt sin, and acting sinfully, has greater bearing on the situation than that of those who are ignorant in their sins, and act sinfully

You're right.

But it seems that we tend to forget the bearing that ignorant sin DOES have. God required sacrifice for unintentional sins, too, so He apparently sees it much more seriously than "Whoops. Oh well."

Of course it's not as serious as deliberate sin. But y'all understand that aspect of it, so I minimized my discussion on it.

Do unto others.
