Good afternoon all ... :hibye::D
Well this is the month that we have all been looking forward to ... when iso will be able to take back the reins ... yee haa ...:cowboy::horsepoo: Not sure when yet ... perhaps you'll let us know bro ... ;)
Until then I guess you are still stuck we woof girl and me ... :P:giverose:
The verse for today is one that we cannot help but love and treasure and that is John 3:16 ...
God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son.
Watchtower comments ...
''When you are suffering with no relief in sight, you may wonder: ''Does God really love Me? Does he notice what I am going through?'' Consider what happened to the apostle Paul. ''There was given me a thorn in the flesh,'' he wrote, adding ''I three times entreated the Lord that it might depart from me.'' Jehovah indicated to Paul that he would not intervene by means of miraculous solution. Instead, Paul would have to rely on God's power to help him cope with his ''thorn in the flesh.'' (2 Cor. 12:7-9) Like Paul, you may be experiencing a certain ongoing trial. Perhaps you wonder, ''Does the fact that Jehovah appears not to have done anything about my trial mean he is unaware of my situation or that he does not care about me?'' The answer is a resounding No! Jehovah is deeply concerned about each of his faithful servants.'' w8/1/05 3, 4
My thought ...
Let's read the whole verse since it is all important to us ... :read::blush:
(ALT) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten [or, unique] Son, so that every [one] believing [or, trusting] in Him shall not perish, _but_ shall be having eternal life!
(BBE) For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life.
(WNT) For so greatly did God love the world that He gave His only Son, that every one who trusts in Him may not perish but may have the Life of Ages.
Yes, our EVERLASTING LIFE is dependent on us doing what according to this Scripture ...?
Upon our having 'faith' or 'believing in' or 'trusting in' or 'having faithin' God's own first born Son!!
Interestingly according to Strong's the Greek word for 'believing' is ...
pisteuo
from 4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing); i.e. credit; by impl. to entrust (espec. one's spiritual well-being to Christ):- believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.
4102 pistis
from 3982; persuasion, i.e. credence; mor. conviction (of relig. truth, or the truthfulness of God or a relig. teacher), espec. reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstr. constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:- assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.
Soooo now when we stop and really think about what 'believing in Christ' encompasses according to some of these definition it is a PRETTY BIG THING isn't it!! :happyheart:
For example, one of the definitions is to ...
PUT IN TRUST WITH ...
Now, the first thing that comes to mind as an illustration is 'the bank' ... do we not put our 'trust' ... our 'money' in 'trust' with the bank ... and do we not expect them to take good care of it for us so that whenever we need it it is there for us ... and even gaining interest if we don't use it ...? Some people put their WHOLE LIFE'S SAVING in banks ... trusting that it will be there for them when they grow old and really need it ... or perhaps putting 'trust funds' up for their children and grandchildren to make sure they are 'taken care of' ...
Now, when it comes to our PUTTING IN TRUST ... our very LIFE ... WITH or IN Christ Jesus (hands and heart) we are talking about something far more grander are we not ... for while a 'bank' only holds our 'money' ... Christ Jesus hold our very LIFE ...
Now another definition is that we are entrusting our 'spiritual well-being' with Christ Jesus ... which brings to mind another illustration ... that of a 'doctor' ...
How many times do we as 'patients' put our very 'well-being', our literal lives, in the hands of doctors ... some may be good and some may be bad we just don't know do we ...? And yet we let them 'treat' us in the hopes that they can cure us or at least bring a measure of comfort to us don't we ...?
Well, again, we can put not only our 'spiritual well-being' but our WHOLE well-being into the hands of Christ Jesus ... for he has already PROVEN to be a capable 'doctor' in so many ways hasn't he ...!!
Which brings me to another definition from above ...
That we need to 'believe' in the 'Gospel' that Jesus spoke of as the TRUTH!!
Yes, how could we ever put our 'faith' or 'trust' or 'belief' in Christ if we did not belief in or trust that what he was the TRUTH ... that it was something REAL and ASSURED ... that of ...
Believing he was who he said he was ... the Son of God ...
Believing his message of peace ... and living by it ...
Believing that we are all brothers in Christ, a part of each other and a part of God and Christ themselves ...
Believing in forgiveness ...
Believing in the power of love ...
Believing that Christ is the key to our salvation ... our future hope of everlasting life ...
Yes, 'believing' isn't just a WORD ... it is a FEELING ... an ASSURANCE ... a HOPE ... and something that has to be CONSTANT ...
It isn't something we can just turn on and off ... we cannot afford to 'doubt' in our Lord ... for doubts could lead us to 'cool off' or to 'stray' or to 'lose hope and give up' ...
Yes, our believing in our Lord is for a LIFETIME ... an ETERNITY ... for that is how long he believes in us!!
Well, I somehow rattled on again ... but I decided to to put my fingers in chains to give you a break :quiet: and so that you could add your own thought or two or three ... :post:
My love to all ... which includes of course our Lord and our heavenly Father ... :heartbeat: your sis BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
