It is VERY late here ... 12:30 in the am but I just wanted to get the text up for ya'll ...
The Scripture is from 1Pet. 1:20 ...
He was foreknown before the founding of the world, but he was made manifest at the end of the times for the sake of you.
Watchtower comments ...
''Did Jehovah predetermine from the beginning that Adam and Eve would sin and that the ransom sacrifice provided by means of Jesus Christ would be needed? No. The word ''founding'' is translated from a Greek term that literally means ''throwing down of the seed.'' Had there been a ''throwing down of seed,'' or a conceiving of human offspring, before Adam and Eve had sinned? No. It was after their act of disobedience that Adam and Eve brought forth children. (Gen. 4:1) So following the rebellion but before the conception of offspring by Adam and Eve, Jehovah foreordained the appearance of the ''seed.'' (Gen. 3:15) Jesus' death and resurrection provided the loving arrangement of the ransom, whereby inherited sin and all of Satan's efforts are to be brought to nothing.''--Matt. 20:28; Heb. 2:14: I John 3:8. w/6/1/06 10
My quick thought before going off to bed ... :sleepy:
Not sure how 'sane' this will be ...
But the Scripture in 1John 3:8 struck my tired brain ...
(ASV) he that doeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. To this end was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
(BBE) The sinner is a child of the Evil One; for the Evil One has been a sinner from the first. And the Son of God was seen on earth so that he might put an end to the works of the Evil One.
(CEV) Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done.
(EMTV) He who practices sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of God appeared, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Well, if one can find a 'silver lining' in the sin that came to earth because of our first parents disobedience I am thinking that it was that we got to 'see' Jesus in 'action' ... got to 'see' how our God would be with us if he too became visible to our eyes in a human sense ... (now I know He can't, that statement is of course 'illustrative' of a 'what if' kind of thing ... told ya I was tired ... hence not fully responsible for what comes out on the screen ... )
Yes, we got a GLIMPSE of how loving, kind, generous, compassionate, self-sacrificing, humble, empathetic, patient, strong, faithful, loyal, caring, happy, balanced, peaceable, kind, self-controlled, zealous, jealous (in a Godly sense) and a whole host of other things that our God and his Son are and from these things we today can draw upon in ourselves ...
strength
courage
faith
hope
comfort
endurance
example
fellow feeling
nurturing
joy
relationships
zeal
and the list could again go on ...
So, thank you our God for arranging our salvation for us ... and thank you for sending us such a wonderful exemplar to learn from and walk in his footsteps as much as we can!!
Luv and goodnight to all ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
