Good evening all ... :hibye: Got a pretty bad headache right now ... so not sure how 'good' the text will be ... but I'll try ... :giverose:
Scripture is from Ps. 145:9 ...
Jehovah is good to all.
Watchtower comments ...
''In addition to working ''what is good toward all'' by preaching, shepherds have the responsibility to work what is good, ''especially toward those related to us in the faith.'' (gal. 6:10) One way they do this is by making encouraging shepherding visits. At times, shepherds may suggest ways in which an individual can improve in his service to Jehovah. In doing so, wise shepherds imitate the apostle Paul. Consider the way he appealed to the brothers in Thessalonica: ''We have confidence in the Lord regarding you, that you are doing and will go on doing the things we order.'' (2 Thess. 3:4) Such expressions of confidence appeal to the good inclinations of the sheep and make it easier for them to ''be obedient to those who are taking the lead.'' (Heb. 13:17) When you receive an encouraging shepherding visit, why not express appreciation for it and do your best to apply the suggestions offered? w/5/1/06 15,16
My thoughts ..:shocked::shocked: :scratchhead:
In my 'experience' the 'shepherding calls' were never really in the 'encouraging' and saying 'you're doing good keep up the good work' spirit ... but rather their only coming to 'see' you (at home) if you're in some kind of 'trouble' or they are looking to see if you know about something to get someone else in 'trouble' kind of thing ... :(
Anyway ... enough about the above comments ... I will try to say something that is hopefully more upbuilding and encouraging ... :friends: ya know ... 'shepherding' kind of thing ... ;):P
The whole verse reads as follows in other translations ...
(ASV) Jehovah is good to all; And his tender mercies are over all his works.
(CEV) You are good to everyone, and you take care of all your creation.
(DRB) The Lord is sweet to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
(GW) The LORD is good to everyone and has compassion for everything that he has made.
Isn't this a BEAUTIFUL verse to dwell on and draw comfort from!!:read: :rose:
Even those to whom ignore Him and even don't believe in Him :(:crybaby: he still makes the sun shine and the rain fall upon wicked ones as well as righteous ones doesn't he ...?
So, if He does that who are 'we' to 'judge' who IN THE END will prove to be on JEHOVAH'S SIDE ... who will when all is said and done will come to recognize and love him and his Son ...
I think that we may just be surprised ... and I am SURE that most of JW's will be that's for sure ...:huh:
Since Jehovah is the Great Shepherd ... and his Son follows his example PERFECTLY ... then let us as footsteps followers of Christ Jesus who we are to emulate have the same 'shepherding mind and heart set' that they do ...:heartbeat:
Let us REACH OUT to those who are in need ... and even those who are not ... for couldn't we ALL benefit from a kind word ... a comforting thought ... a warm and caring hug ... a real smile of love and friendship ... some timely counsel when needed ...:D:hug::cheekkiss::grouphug:
Yes, indeed our God is good and sweet and kind and compassionate and the list goes on and on ...
May we strive to be so too!!
Luv to all ... your sis ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
