Good evening ... :D:hibye:

I'm sorry :imsorry: for taking so long to put up the text, :coffeeread: been housecleaning a bit and am a bit slow lately, plus was in the discussions room for the topic of Galations :read:... really nice ...

The Scripture for today is from Zech. 4:7 ...

He will certainly bring forth the headstone. There will be shoutings to it: ''How charming! How charming!''

Watchtower's comments ...

''Zechariah's prophecy is pointing to the time when true worship of the Sovereign Lord will be brought to its perfected state in the earthly courtyards of his spiritual temple. That temple is Jehovah's arrangement for approaching him in worship on the basis of the propitatory sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Granted, the great spiritual temple has existed since the first century C.E. Yet, true worship in its earthly courtyard will yet be perfected. Millions of worshipers now serve in the earthly courtyard of the spiritual temple. These and multitudes of resurrected ones will be brought to perfection during the Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ. At the end of the thousand years, only true worshipers of God will be left on the cleansed earth. Should this not encourage us to move ahead in our ministry, not getting side-tracked by everyday concerns?'' w4/15/06 5-7a

My thoughts ...

Hmmm  :scratchhead:

I started to comment on the comments above :post: and then just deleted them ... :computerpunch::opps:

Now I will start again ... :post: :giverose:

The HEADSTONE ... who or what is it ...

Well, it would appear to me to be speaking about Christ Jesus as the HEAD of the congregation of pure worship ... the foundation stone upon which all else rests ... including our very salvation ...

Ps. 118: 22 ...

(ASV) The stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner.

(CEV) The stone that the builders tossed aside has now become the most important stone.

(GNB) The stone which the builders rejected as worthless turned out to be the most important of all.

Isa. 28:16
...

(ASV) therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste.

(CEV) And so the LORD says, "I'm laying a firm foundation for the city of Zion. It's a valuable cornerstone proven to be trustworthy; no one who trusts it will ever be disappointed.

(DRB) Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lay a stone in the foundations of Sion, a tried stone, a corner stone, a precious stone, founded in the foundation. He that believeth, let him not hasten.

Heb. 2:10 ...

(ASV) For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

(Darby) For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through sufferings.

(Geneva) For it became him, for whome are all these thinges, and by whome are all these things, seeing that hee brought many children vnto glory, that he should consecrate the Prince of their saluation through afflictions.

Heb. 5:9 ...

(ALT) And having been made perfect, He became to all the ones obeying Him [the] source of eternal salvation,

(CEV) Suffering made Jesus perfect, and now he can save forever all who obey him.

(ESV) And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

Yes, this 'headstone' or 'cornerstone' is so VERY PRECIOUS is he not and deserves our faith  and our hope :giverose: and our love :heartbeat:...

I'm not so sure about the wording to the ending of this verse ...

There will be shoutings to it: ''How charming! How charming!''

Other renderings are ...

(BBE) Who are you, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel you will become level: and he will let all see the headstone, with cries of Grace, grace, to it.

(Darby) Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou dost become a plain; and he shall bring forth the head-stone with shoutings: Grace, grace unto it!

(GNB) Obstacles as great as mountains will disappear before you. You will rebuild the Temple, and as you put the last stone in place, the people will shout, 'Beautiful, beautiful!' "

The Hebrew word for 'grace' or 'charming' as the NWT puts it is ...

chen

graciousness, e.e. sufj. (kindness, favor) or obj. (beauty):- favour, grace (-ious), pleasant, precious, [well-]favoured.

So, indeed would we not exclaim how BEAUTIFUL :rose: or PRECIOUS  or KIND :cheekkiss: or PLEASANT :giverose: Christ is as to how we feel about him!!

Yes, when true worship abounds, when Christ takes control as King and ruler the strength that we will receive and the assurance of hearing the true shepherds voice of truth and comfort will truly make our hearts soar above the clouds will it not ... :flyinghigh:

So, let us get ready to shout really loud when this day comes ... although we can kind of do so now can't we ... for since we rest our hope in him now ... and we do have a measure of holy spirit to guide and direct ... and since he said he would be with us all ... well that is indeed something to be grateful for and to say he is beautiful in our eyes and hearts!! :cheer:

At least that is how I feel anyway ... ;):siskiss::whistle:

Luve to ya'll ... your sis BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
I think for Zerubabel the fact that he was told he would place the headstone, meant that he would complete the temple, as I believe this is the same as the cap stone. the top one you put in an arch to hiold the arch up.

Hi piglet ... :D:hibye:

So do this mean that I have the wrong 'stone' application ...?

Or am I using wrong Scriptures for the 'right' stone ...?

Or am I totally wrong altogether ...?

Love to have a wee bit more info my dear one ... for you know I wouldn't want to apply something incorrectly ...

Thanks for your clarification and input ... :post:

Luv BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:

Hi Vicky ... :hibye:

Don't forget to put yourself in one of those boxes ... we don't want to lose you ... :P:friends:

Glad about your new job ...

As to the 'stone' that seems to be mentioned here in Zech. in the Hebrew text it appears, if I am understanding it correctly, that there are two words used for 'headstone' and they are as follows ...

eben

from the root of 1129 through the mean. to build; a stone:- + carbuncle, + mason + plummet, [chalk-, hail-,head-, sling-]stone (-ny), (divers) weight (s)

1129 has some meanings of ...

banah

a prim. root; to build (lit. or fig.):- (begin to) build (-er) make, set up

The second word for 'headstone' in Strong's is ...

roshah

the head:- head [-stone]

Soooooo ...

When I read this definitions I guess I assumed that they were not actually speaking about the 'top' of an artifice or building or temple or whatever ... but rather the first piece that gets laid down to begin the building process.

It seems the first stone or 'cornerstone' piece was MOST IMPORTANT as it would make the structure built upon it solid and sound if it was 'true' ... if was out 'out' of alignment or the plummet-line was not straight then the building wouldn't be as structurally sound as it could be ...

And is that not what we as 'stones' ourselves want to build upon ... Christ ... our chief cornerstone ... one who was and is true and sound and precious ...?

Since I am not 'mason worker' I'm not sure if I got that right ... but hopefully on the right track ...

So, when the people would see the one assigned to lay the chalk or plummet line ... they would know that work would soon be beginning and indeed this would be a time of rejoicing ... especially since the building in question in Zechariah was to Jehovah ...

Anyway ... just some added thoughts for clarifying ... hopefully someone may know what I am talking about ...:heartbeat:

Luv again ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
