I'm going bonkers trying to find this info for the December eNewsletter, maybe some of you can help me out?

I'm trying to find out which passages in Nehemiah in particular were originally written in Aramaic. Anyone?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Love,
Tami
:wave:Hi Tami!
This is what wikipedia had to say:

[edit] Occurrence of Aramaic in the Hebrew Bible
Aramaic occurs in four discrete places in the Hebrew Bible:

Ezra 4:8–6:18 and 7:12–26 — quotations of documents from the 5th century BCE concerning the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem.
Daniel 2:4b–7:28 — five tales about Daniel and his colleagues, and an apocalyptic vision.
Jeremiah 10:11 — a single sentence in the middle of a Hebrew text denouncing idolatry.
Genesis 31:47 — translation of a Hebrew place-name.

[edit] Other occurrences, according to some scholars
Genesis 15:1 — the word במחזה (ba-maħaze, "in a vision"). According to the Zohar (I:88b), this word is Aramaic, as the usual Hebrew word would be במראה (ba-mar’e).
Numbers 23:10 — the word רבע (rôḇa‘, usually translated as "stock" or "fourth part"). Rabbi J.H. Hertz, in his commentary on this verse, cites an unnamed scholar's claim that this is an Aramaic word meaning "dust."
Job 36:2a — Rashi, in his commentary on this verse, states that this phrase is in Aramaic.

Wiki's not a conclusive source, certainly, but it says nothing about Nehemiah.

Hope this helps!
:heartbeat:Love ya,
Willa
:peace:
Thank you Willa. :)

I'm just trying to be sure about Nehemiah though -- it's the only one I can't confirm. I've got Daniel, Ezra, and Jeremiah already. Several websites have made reference to portions of Nehemiah being in Aramaic, but I just can't find which portions. :scratchhead:
