Good morning all ... :hibye::friends:
I hope this day finds everyone well ... :giverose:
The text for today is taken from Ex. 16:2 ...
''the entire assembly of the sons of Israel began to murmur against Moses and Aaron.''
Watchtower comments ...
''Just a few weeks after their deliverance from slavery in Egypt, the Israelites complained about food, saying: ''You have brought us out into this wilderness to put this whole congregation to death by famine.'' (Ex. 16:3) Actually, Jehovah sustained the Israelites with what they needed in the wilderness, lovingly providing them with food and water. There was never a threat that the people of Israel would die of famine in the wilderness. In a spirit of discontent, though, they exaggerated their plight and began to murmur. Although their complaints were directed against Moses and Aaron, in Jehovah's eyes the real target of their discontent was God himself. Moses told the Israelites: '' Jehovah has heard your murmurings that you are murmuring against him. And what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.'' --Ex. 16:4-8. w/7/15/06 4,5
My thoughts ...
As I sit here contemplating this account I cannot help but feel that indeed the Israelites were murmuring against Jehovah God were they not ...
They had just been through the 10 plagues ... obviously miracles done by Jehovah their God ...
Were released from slavery and then passed through the Red Sea ... obviously another tremendous miracle from Jehovah their God ...
In a barren-type and unfriendly land they were miraculously fed and had water ... obviously another miraculous feat by Jehovah their God ...
So when they complained to the ONE JEHOVAH HAD CHOSEN TO LEAD his people out of slavery ... they were indeed in reality complaining against PROVISIONS and MIRACLES that come from Jehovah God himself!
When I looked up the word used for 'murmur' it seems to show that this 'murmuring' was not just a one or two time thing but shows a CONTINUOUS type of attitude of being obstinate and complaining ... digging in and staying in this mind and heart frame for prolonged periods ... thus showing IMHO that it wasn't just a 'spur of the moment' or a 'lapse' ... but rather something much more serious ...:(
To bring it up to today and us ...
I reflect on more miracles that Jehovah had caused to deliver mankind from slavery ... slavery to sin and death ...
Again he CHOSE ONE to take the 'lead' in doing this ... his very own Son, Christ Jesus!
As with Moses Jesus too showed that Jehovah was performing miraculous signs to PROVE that they were indeed from God and that Jehovah was working through them for the SAKE OF HIS PEOPLE ...
Yes, in both instances there was VISIBLE PROOFS ... proofs that were UNQUESTIONABLE in their divine origin and that thus proved that these ones had Jehovah's blessing and approval ... and in both instances these men were used to 'show or lead the way to freedom' ... and a drawing closer to our heavenly Father ... Jesus of course be the 'ultimate' in bringing us REAL and EVERLASTING FREEDOM from sin and death ... which no other man could of course do ...
So, what is it then we we should be careful NOT to murmur about ... to show a discontented spirit about ...?
Well, doubting in Jesus being God's own Son I would think would be one ...
Thinking that Jehovah is not aware of what is going on and blaming him for all the wickedness we see in the world today could be another ...
Perhaps someone else has some other ideas as to what would be considered 'murmurring in a BAD way' ...? :scratchhead:
Instead of allowing our hearts and lips to blame God for the troubles we experience and suffer through ... let us try to remember he only 'allows' it to happen for such is the 'price' we still have to pay as humans at this time ... :( but that he HELPS us to ENDURE whatever trials and tribulations we go through ... and makes a way out when it is needed ... so let our lips and hearts always praise and thank him for the generous God that he is ... and that he will soon show us in ways beyond imagining!! :cheer::cheer:
Luv to all ... BR :sheepy: :bouncyhearts:
